RHOA Alum Kenya Moore Reflects On Her Friendship With Tyra Banks In 90s; Says ’We Were Inseparable’

As an ardent fan who cherishes the nostalgia of the 90s, I can’t help but marvel at the profound friendship that blossomed between Kenya Moore and Tyra Banks during those golden years. Their bond, reminiscent of sisters, is a testament to their shared experiences and mutual admiration.

What many people believed was that Kenya Moore and Tyra Banks’ close relationship during the 90s would serve as a great example of friendship. The reality TV personality reminisced about the strong bond she had with the supermodel and actress from back then.

During a conversation with The Shade Room (on December 2), Moore revealed that she and Banks were extremely close friends back in the ’90s. She described their relationship by saying, “We were practically joined at the hip during that time.” Moore went on to say that if Banks wasn’t at her house, then she would be at Banks’ place, emphasizing, “Her mom was like a second mother to me.

She reminisced about extended conversations she had with the model which often lasted for hours. She revealed that they rarely hung up; it felt as if they were talking to a close friend or family member, and they would ask, “Aren’t you going to end the call? Aren’t you asleep?” In essence, that’s what we were – we were like sisters.

During the interview, the celebrity from the reality show expressed admiration for Banks, stating that observing her marketing skills and business acumen was more impressive than anything she had previously seen, even compared to the Miss USA winner (specifically referring to Moore who won the title in 1993). She mentioned that they met shortly after the Miss USA event.

Moore described the model as functioning similar to a “machine,” when it came to building her empire. She noted that Banks had an abundance of people and creative ideas, which Moore could clearly envision. The reality TV personality found it remarkable to witness such a young African-American woman thriving in this way.

During their chat, Moore was humorously queried about attracting attention on their girls’ night out. She playfully remarked that the catalog they maintain, filled with men who tried and fell short, was “absolutely outrageous.

As a lifestyle expert reflecting on the past and present, I can tell you that, in my opinion, folks from the ’90s had a distinct approach to their digital footprints. Unlike today, where we often share every detail of our personal lives – including dates and romantic entanglements – on social media, back then, privacy was the norm. There was less public display of heartaches and problems, creating an air of mystery around people’s private lives.
