Resident Evil Requiem Hits 5 Million Sales as Story Expansion DLC Revealed

Resident Evil Requiem is off to a huge start.

As a huge Resident Evil fan, I was thrilled to hear that the newest game has already sold over 5 million copies worldwide in under a week! Director Koshi Nakanishi expressed his gratitude to all of us, and it sounds like this is officially the fastest-selling game in the entire series – that’s amazing news!

Nakanishi used the update video to reveal that a Story Expansion DLC is now in development.

Koshi Nakanishi thanks fans after big launch

Capcom has achieved another significant success with Resident Evil Requiem, which has rapidly become one of their best-selling games, reaching 5 million copies sold.

This successful launch is the biggest debut for a Resident Evil game on Steam, surpassing the initial player numbers for Resident Evil 4 Remake.

For Capcom, the success of Resident Evil Requiem means it’s both a favorite among dedicated fans and one of the year’s most successful game releases of 2026.

Story Expansion DLC is on the way

The bigger surprise is that Nakanishi also unveiled a forthcoming Story Expansion DLC.

Capcom is already working on extra story content that will dig deeper into the game’s world.

Capcom hasn’t shared when the game will be released or what the story will be about, but this news isn’t unexpected. Given the successful launch of Resident Evil Requiem, it was likely more content would be created.

More updates are reportedly planned

I’m so excited to hear Capcom isn’t stopping with just the story expansion! They’ve got even more planned, like a photo mode that I’ve been hoping for, a fun little mini-game, and apparently another surprise coming in May. It’s great to see them continuing to support the game!

That should give Resident Evil fans even more to look forward to as Capcom keeps the momentum going.
