Capcom has officially verified that “Resident Evil Requiem” will be the upcoming main installment in the extended horror franchise. Previously known as “Resident Evil 9“, this game is scheduled to launch on February 27, 2026, and will be playable on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
First Trailer Reveals New Tone and Setting
The trailer for “Resident Evil Requiem” was unveiled during Summer Game Fest 2025, introduced by Geoff Keighley who described it as a significant change in tone and gameplay for the series. Although it remains faithful to single-player survival horror, the clips suggest a greater emphasis on cinematic action sequences and potentially open-world aspects.
The movie begins by showing a devastated Raccoon City, clearly indicating its destruction after the incidents in Resident Evil 3. There’s a brief peek at the Raccoon City Police Department in disarray as well.
