As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Marvel Universe adventures under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension about the potential return of Hawkeye in a second season. The first season was a joy to watch, and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop truly shone as the new Hawkeye.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Jeremy Renner’s portrayal of Hawkeye remains a beloved character by fans. Most recently, he was seen in action during the ‘Hawkeye’ series on live television. Later, he contributed his voice to the role in the second season of ‘What If…?’, appearing particularly in the episode titled ‘What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas.’
Unlike most Disney+ series, which seldom have a second season, ‘Loki’ stands out as an exception that excelled even beyond its initial run. However, it appears that ‘Hawkeye’ could be bucking this trend and moving forward with its own second season.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got some exciting news to share – though it’s not officially confirmed yet, whispers from inside sources indicate that our favorite show might be making a comeback! The most recent confirmation came from Alex Perez during his Discord AMA session. He hinted at the return of the project, and even more intriguingly, mentioned an expanded role for Kate Bishop, who’s now taking over as Hawkeye in the MCU. So, fingers crossed, folks – it looks like we may see more of Kate soon!
Liam (Kate Bishop Fan): Hi Alex, I hope everything’s going great with you! By any chance, do you have information on whether Hawkeye Season 2 has been given the go-ahead or if it’s currently in development?
Alex: It’s been said that Hawkeye Season 2 is currently being developed, with a focus on expanding Hailee Steinfeld’s character, Kate Bishop, into a more significant role compared to the first season. However, just because it’s in development doesn’t necessarily mean it will definitely move forward and be produced.
It’s understandable if you’ve been curious about when we’ll see Hawkeye again in the MCU, as not only has his role been handed over to Kate Bishop, but Jeremy Renner, who plays him, had a serious accident more than a year back.
On New Year’s Day, 2023, Renner suffered severe injuries from a snowplow accident at home, including blunt chest trauma and around 30 fractured bones. A snowplow weighing approximately 14,330 pounds ran over him, necessitating an air ambulance to transport him to Renown Regional Medical Center. After undergoing surgery, he was in critical condition in the ICU but was discharged on January 17th. Ten weeks later, he began walking with a cane. Doctors attributed his survival to his strong overall health and fitness. It was subsequently discovered that he had been clinically dead when initially treated.
Even though it’s been some time since we last saw him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), there’s no cause for concern about Hawkeye not reappearing. Actor Jeremy Renner himself has expressed his readiness to return, and considering that the character has retired and returned on previous occasions, this isn’t an unprecedented situation.
