I never imagined a day like this would happen: Electronic Arts, the video game company, is commemorating the 25th anniversary of their cherished original life simulation game, The Sims, by re-launching both The Sims and The Sims 2. Unfortunately, the re-release is exclusively for Windows users, leaving Mac users like me out of the celebration.
The games “The Sims” and “The Sims 2” are now packaged together as the “The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle,” or can be purchased individually under the titles “The Sims: Legacy Collection” and “The Sims 2: Legacy Collection.” As previously stated, this rerelease is compatible only with Windows 10 and 11. However, fret not! You can still enjoy playing “The Sims 4” and look forward to the upcoming “Sims” movie.
Kate Gorman Revelli, head of The Sims franchise, expressed that it’s both a joy for her team and a delight for players to reintroduce the initial versions of our beloved Sims games, where the life simulation genre was born. Our fans have longed to relive the nostalgia, and what better time than on our birthday to share this experience with them and welcome new players to The Sims community. We’re excited about another 25 years of The Sims, as we continue to inspire creativity by giving our community the freedom to reimagine various aspects of life.
You can find these games on various platforms such as the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam. Users who subscribe to EA Play Pro, EA’s premium service, get unlimited playtime for all titles. The standard EA Play subscription costs $39.99 annually, while EA Play Pro is priced higher at $119.99 per year.
The most recent edition of the popular franchise, “The Sims 4,” just marked its 10th anniversary. Ever since I started playing it during high school, I’ve been hooked right up until my college graduation – so you can only imagine how thrilled I was when Electronic Arts (EA) announced that they plan to keep updating and growing the game. Yet, instead of creating a “Sims 5,” they’re opting for continuous development in this one.
The titles are jam-packed with extra content and expansion packs. This collection is available for purchase at $39.99. For comprehensive details on both games, you can visit Electronic Arts’ pages for The Sims and The Sims 2.
