As a child of the ’80s and ’90s, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia when I think about the magic of Christmas movies. From “Die Hard” to “The Santa Clause,” those films have a special place in my heart. Now, with Red One, it looks like we’re getting a fresh dose of holiday cheer that combines action, adventure, and a healthy dose of humor.
How about we rephrase it this way: Could we instead say that Santa Claus does indeed exist, but he’s been abducted? Get ready to be the Christmas heroes as Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson join forces, with Lucy Liu in Red One. This film is directed by Jake Kasdan and also features Kiernan Shipka and JK Simmons. For those who still need convincing, you’ll also encounter a massive polar bear agent in this movie.
At the start of the recently unveiled Red One trailer, Chris Evans is seen being pursued by a group. It turns out that unexpected visitors have dropped by at his place. In an attempt to avoid electric whips called polar tasers, he eventually encounters Lucy Liu, who then kidnaps him and introduces him to the North Pole.
Here comes Dwayne Johnson, a character that Evans’ persona can’t stand, but due to their shared mission of locating the vanished and abducted Santa Claus, they are compelled to work together.
Through a well-known holiday song, we discover the nickname of Santa Claus, the one known as ‘The Red One’. Additionally, we learn that Evans, renowned for being the world’s top tracker, was transported to the North Pole.
In this movie, you’re invited to explore a realm filled with magic, hidden twists, and perhaps the sole opportunity to keep Christmas cheer alive. The film features storage rooms acting as gateways to the North Pole transportation network, and toy vehicles transforming into genuine transportation methods.
It seems that in the trailer, it’s not just Santa who gets kidnapped, but another magical entity as well. A sinister character played by Kiernan Shipka is introduced, and she appears to possess magical abilities.
In the upcoming movie, Johnson assumes the role of Callum Drift, the Head of Security at the North Pole, while Evans takes on Jack O’Malley, the notorious global bounty hunter. Notably, J.K. Simmons portrays Santa Claus in this production as well.
The project titled “Red One” was written by Chris Morgan and is inspired by a story by Hiram Garcia. This upcoming movie will hit U.S. theaters on November 15 of this very year.
