As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood, I must say that Andrew Garfield‘s return to the MCU world was not just a comeback, but a deeply personal and healing journey for him. His experience on the set of Spiderman: No Way Home seemed to have resonated profoundly, serving as a testament to the power of storytelling and the importance of finding purpose in our actions.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must confess that I initially had my reservations about diving back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, I can honestly say that this journey turned out to be nothing short of extraordinary and deeply meaningful for me. Recently, in an intimate conversation with Esquire, I shared that working on Spider-Man: No Way Home was a profoundly healing experience for me.
In an interview on the Happy Sad and Confused podcast hosted by Josh Horowitz, the actor from We Live in Time shared thoughts about his experience working on the 2021 hit movie and its personal significance to him.
When inquired about his feelings prior to embarking on the project, Garfield shared that neither he nor any other cast member felt anxious due to director Jon Watts’ high level of assurance as a filmmaker. His self-confidence was contagious, with Garfield stating, “I thought, ‘He seems calm, that’s intriguing, alright,’.” Watts reassured the actor by saying, “We’ll figure it out,” which instilled in Garfield a sense of truthfulness and trust.
Furthermore, prior to the filming of Tick Tick Boom, the actor engaged in several discussions with Watts about his character’s role in the movie. He was adamant that he wouldn’t participate if it wasn’t enjoyable, provided some form of healing or growth, and had a significant meaning. “There needs to be a genuine purpose for us all being part of this shared universe,” he stated.
Garfield agreed to star in the movie because he loved the concept of three different Spider-Mans existing together, and everyone else involved, such as Watts, Holland, and Maguire, were also on board with this idea. What truly convinced Garfield was a scene where his character catches MJ as she falls, which seemed like a chance for his Spider-Man to redeem himself for missing the opportunity to save Gwen Stacy (played by Emma Stone) in his universe.
He shared with Horowitz that the primary aspect that attracted him to the role was knowing his character would capture MJ, and that was all it took to convince him. He expressed, “That’s more than enough.
