Randy Pitchford Claims ‘Borderlands 4′ Price Comments Were “a Misunderstanding,” Is Humbled by the Fans’ Support

As a fervent fan, I can hardly contain my excitement as Borderlands 4 is officially set to launch on September 12, 2025! With the mainline sequel finally in sight, anticipation among fans has reached an all-time high. Catching glimpses of the stunning images and captivating videos released so far have only fueled our eagerness for the game’s arrival.

Although the game seems poised for success currently, there’s an ongoing uncertainty regarding its pricing, given the current unstable market conditions and the trend of publishers increasing their prices.

The head of the game, Randy Pitchford, stirred up more debate recently by stating that “true supporters” might spend as much as $80 on the game. However, he later clarified that this comment wasn’t intended to criticize fans and was merely a misunderstanding.

In case you don’t remember, Pitchford was recently criticized by numerous fans and journalists for his comments on the price of the Borderlands 4 game. He responded to a fan asking about the price (and saying that $80 would be too much and would result in the game failing) with the following reply:

If you’re truly passionate about gaming, like I was back in 1991, fresh out of high school with a minimum wage job at an ice cream parlor in Pismo Beach, you’d go the extra mile to get your hands on a game like Starflight for Sega Genesis. And that’s exactly what I did!

A week or so ago, I found myself in the middle of quite a stir. Upon reflection, I realized it was all just a miscommunication. To set the record straight, I shared my thoughts in a detailed social media post that you can check out over here: [link]

I apologize for any confusion, but let me clarify my stance. I genuinely believe in fairness and ensuring no one pays beyond their means or comfort level. Ideally, I aim to provide every customer with a deal that leaves them feeling satisfied, as if they’ve come out on top, regardless of the circumstances.

It’s evident that Pitchford clarified his earlier statement extensively, an action seemingly aimed at minimizing any negative impact. However, since we’re unaware of the game’s final price, it’s uncertain how fans will respond once the game is officially launched.

Until then, be sure to keep following us!
