Rachel Zegler’s ‘Snow White’ Set to Bomb at the Box Office? Shocking Projections Revealed!

According to estimates, the upcoming Disney film starring Rachel Zegler as Snow White, which is projected to cost more than $200 million, might not be a box office success.

What are the estimates?

Based on recent projections by THR, it’s anticipated that “Snow White” will open with approximately $53 million. Yet, these estimates suggest a potential range, with the lower end predicting an opening of around $48 million and the upper end expecting as much as $58 million.

It appears that the anticipation for Snow White has lessened somewhat, according to Box Office Pro’s recent predictions, which estimated an opening weekend of around $65 million to $85 million.

Similar to Mufasa? Cinderella?

As a film enthusiast, I find an intriguing parallel being drawn to “Mufasa: The Lion King,” which, like the upcoming “Snow White” movie, had a comparable budget but opened with just $35.4M in December. However, “Mufasa” went on to rake in a staggering $700M. It’s worth noting that “Mufasa” was a sequel/prequel to the iconic “The Lion King,” which gives it a significant advantage. On the other hand, one could argue that “Snow White” hasn’t had much going for it since the original animated movie hit screens in 1937. The question remains: does the upcoming “Snow White,” starring Rachel Zegler, have the staying power, or as we say in the film world, ‘the legs,’ that “Mufasa” did?

Critics are drawing parallels to the 2015 live-action Disney film, “Cinderella.” Yet, what outlets like THR aren’t mentioning is that when adjusted for inflation, “Cinderella”‘s opening weekend of $67.8M equates to approximately $100M in today’s dollars – around $90.87M. This implies that the upcoming “Snow White” might be expected to gross around half that amount. Actress Rachel Zegler will undoubtedly need strong box office performances to match her role.

Will the female audience show up?

While women were drawn to Disney’s Snow White and Barbie, the films The Little Mermaid, The Marvels, and Madame Web didn’t see as much attendance.

Rachel Zegler controversy

Rachel Zegler, much like actresses such as Brie Larson, has stirred up quite a bit of debate, with many women expressing dislike towards her. Similar to others in the spotlight, Zegler is known for openly sharing her political views and, interestingly, she had previously spoken out about not being a fan of the original 1937 film “Snow White.” However, it appears that she has since adjusted her stance, and there have been reports suggesting significant reshoots for the movie “Snow White” to make changes.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t stress enough how crucial it is for audiences to grasp that Disney has skillfully blended the timeless charm of the 1937 classic animation we all cherish, while simultaneously making it appealing and relatable to today’s generation. In essence, she possesses a unique gift – her heart. This was shared in a recent interview.

Zegler hasn’t starred in a film that earned over $50 million at the box office, and her latest comedy-sci-fi-horror movie, titled Y2K, only managed to gather $4.4 million globally. Interestingly, her Hunger Games movie brought in just $348 million against a reported budget of $100 million, which is significantly lower than the lowest-grossing film from the Jennifer Lawrence series, more than $300 million less.
