Rachel Zegler Lands Her Next Big Role in an Upcoming Biopic

Gloria Estefan’s life story is becoming a movie, and Rachel Zegler will play the singer in the film.

Rachel Zegler first gained recognition in Steven Spielberg’s film *West Side Story*, then went on to star in Disney’s *Snow White*. Most recently, she performed as Evita in a West End production.

Estefan highly praised the young actress, calling her “awesome and incredible.” He noted her outstanding performance in *Evita*, adding that she is a delightful person.

The singer said the project is still pending final approval, and they’re still working out details like where it will be filmed and how it will be produced.

She explained they’re still in the planning stages, deciding on the logistics of the project. It’s a lot of preparation, and then things move very quickly once the decision is made to start.”

Initially, people thought the movie would be based on Gloria Estefan’s musical, *On Your Feet!*, but she’s stated that the film will go beyond what’s in the stage show. “The movie isn’t just the show,” she said, “it includes much more.”

Gloria Estefan was born in Cuba and came to the United States with her family when the Cuban Revolution took place. She’s a well-known personality in Miami and has become friends with famous people like David and Victoria Beckham.

She recounted attending a dinner at their house with some very influential guests, including former President Barack Obama, Jeff Bezos, and the CEO of Reddit. She described it as a small, intimate gathering of highly powerful people, and said everyone was incredibly kind.

Estefan shared that Zegler has already shown incredible talent. “I met her over Zoom and was really impressed with her beautiful voice and acting skills,” she explained. Now that the movie is likely to be made, the team will officially offer Zegler the role and then begin production.
