Queen Camilla Reveals Marriage Secret on 20th Anniversary: ‘Ships That Pass in the Night’

King Charles III and Queen Camilla celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on April 9, having been married since 2005. The royal couple have experienced many ups and downs during their courtship and marriage. Currently, they are on an official visit to Italy, and it coincidentally fell on their anniversary. During a stop in Rome, she was questioned about her husband and their bond.

She mused over the length of time since she last walked down the aisle. When asked by Hello! Magazine, she said, “It’s been twenty years already? That seems unreal! I can’t put my finger on the secret behind our lasting marriage. I guess it’s mostly about friendship.” She went on to say, “Yes, truly, it’s more about maintaining a strong bond of friendship than anything else.

Camilla attributes their thriving relationship to sharing camaraderie with her partner, expressing, “Sharing laughter over similar things, navigating life together. I guess it’s those moments that fill most of our time.” She likened their marriage to “vessels passing each other at night”. She elaborated, “We are often heading in separate directions, like ships passing in the night. We swiftly move past one another,” but later added they planned for a little “reunion” or “catch-up” that afternoon.

The couple had planned to celebrate on their return from a four-day visit to Italy, but due to this trip, their celebration seems to have been delayed. Queen Camilla mentioned that they will hold off on exchanging anniversary gifts and saving the celebration until they are back in the U.K., as they don’t want to rush things.

Instead of having the chance to speak now, it seems like we’ll both find something later on when the day ends by reaching into our pockets.

Despite not yet having a proper opportunity to connect, it appears that the Queen and King are thoroughly enjoying their visit to Italy, based on recent updates.
