PVE Tier List

PVE Attackers

How to use this tier list

In Brown Dust 2, each character’s distinct gameplay dynamics make them useful in different ways based on factors such as their area of effect (AOE), special abilities, and the number of turns they can utilize. For several characters, maximizing their potential often requires equipping all of their costumes at once.

In this character ranking system, we focus solely on a character’s highest damage output potential, given that all costumes are fully upgraded and you encounter an enemy setup ideal for inflicting maximum damage. It’s essential to note that factors like area of effect (AOE), the number of turns needed to set up, survivability, and support capabilities are not considered in this list. Instead, those aspects are addressed in separate tabs labeled ‘Supporter/Utility’.

The tier list is ranked on the following basis:

  • S Tier: Characters that have costumes with attacks that are significantly above average (e.g. >1000% multiplier with strong offensive stats) and/or have costume combos that can boost their own damage (e.g. Whitebolt Yuri + Comeback Idol Yuri). These will usually be the best choices for end game content.
  • A Tier: Characters who have good offensive stats and high damage costumes skills. Although their max potential damage output is not as good as S-tier attackers, they are still often used in late game content depending on the enemy formation and weaknesses.
  • B Tier: Characters with low power offensive skills and/or low offensive stats. They are not recommended for use as your main attackers in for late game content.
  • C Tier: Characters who deal low damage, and are not mainly used as attackers (they have other uses though!).
  • Not attackers: This character’s role is not as an attacker at all (check the supporter tab instead).

To conquer challenging end-game content effectively, it’s crucial to have attackers representing various elements. That’s why this tier list is designed to assist you in choosing costumes that excel in dealing damage for each specific element.

To defeat tough late-game bosses, having a diverse team of attackers from different elements is key. This tier list will help you select the best costumes for dealing damage in each elemental category.

Legend

A ‘down arrow’ symbol (↓) signifies that the character is specialized, best suited for advanced players, and not advisable for beginners due to its limited applications. For instance, Ventana performs optimally against solitary targets when equipped with either Taunt or Concentrated Fire. Similarly, Nartas demonstrates efficiency primarily against physical adversaries, but also has a lengthy cooldown period without any subsequent costumes available immediately.

A “up arrow” symbol implies that the character stands out, offering notable practicality in Player vs Environment (PVE) game modes, beyond just dealing high damage.

LC stands for Limited Collaboration, indicating this character is exclusively available as a special collaboration and not regularly drawn from the standard collection.

PVE Supporters

Beginner’s guide to offensive supporters

As an avid player, I can’t stress enough the importance of having multiple offensive supporters in my squad when it comes to dishing out maximum damage in PVE battles. Typically, my team of five characters is optimally composed with this setup for the highest possible impact:

  • 3 supporters,
  • 1 main attacker, and
  • 1 other team member, depending on what is needed for the situation (e.g. a knockback, an additional supporter or an additional attacker).

As a gamer, I always strive to stack up a diverse range of bonuses or perks on my character for optimal results. For a deeper understanding, check out the FAQs.

How to use this list

In Brown Dust 2, all five-star supporters boast their own unique blend of strengths and weaknesses, making them highly effective in their roles. Consequently, this compilation isn’t a traditional tier list but rather a tool for comparing supporters across various categories to help construct an optimally balanced team. Use it strategically when selecting units according to the type of adversary you’re facing and the type of offensive boosts your team requires.

PVE Utility

Beginner’s guide to utility costumes

In certain player-versus-environment (PVE) conflicts, you might need to use utility costumes to handle unique types of challenging opponents. Here’s a quick guide for reference:

  • Buff removers can be used to deal with enemies that have strong counterattack buffs, strong offensive buffs, or energy guards. Note that against enemies with evasion, the buff removal does not apply unless you can connect a hit.
  • Silencers can be used to prevent enemies from activating strong skills. This is especially useful in Tower of Salvation. Note that most bosses are immune to silence.
  • DEF/M.RES reduction is necessary against some enemies with high DEF or M.RES. If you are struggling to deal damage against an enemy, check their stats in case they have high DEF or M.RES. Note: skills that reduce DEF/M.RES by less than 45% have not been included in this list.
  • ATK/M.RES reduction, heal, and other defensive buffs are rarely needed in PVE, except in the most difficult end game content. Most of the time, the aim should be to maximize offense to win the battle as quickly as possible.
  • SP regen is not usually needed in story PVE battles, but it is sometimes useful in longer battles like fiend hunts and guild raids. SP regen is necessary for the higher levels of Tower of Salvation. Note: costumes that regenerate less than 5 SP are not included in this list.
  • Tanks are also usually not needed in story PVE battles. If you really need a tank, 4-star Specialist Andrew will work well most of the time because he has both taunt and evasion, so he can absorb strong attacks without even needing much gear or level investment (simply retry if he misses on his evasion chance).

To ensure effectiveness when wearing utility outfits, always verify the opponent’s condition beforehand to ascertain whether they are resistant to silencing, debuff removal, weakening, and similar effects.
