On their launch day, the two expansive open-world Zelda titles for the Nintendo Switch, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, were enhanced with larger editions specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. This transformation gives the games a fresh, revitalized feel, and if you’re a subscriber to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, you can enjoy these upgrades free of charge.
It’s clear that this can only be done on a potential Nintendo Switch 2 system, provided that you either own the first game or both of the initial ones.
It seems we overlooked the information that the latest upgrades would be free for Expansion Pack subscribers, accompanied by new Nintendo GameCube Classic titles. If you also didn’t catch this announcement, there’s a chance you might end up buying an upgrade that isn’t necessary for your subscription.
As a game enthusiast on my Nintendo Switch 2, I navigate to the home screen and dip into the Nintendo Switch Online menu. At the bottom of this menu, I spot an intriguing section labeled as Expansion Pack. Among other offerings, there’s a captivating sight: The Legend of Zelda Upgrade Packs! Curiosity piqued, I journey to their store pages. To my delight, these upgrades are absolutely free for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers, but remember to be careful not to buy them if you’ve already got a subscription, or you might end up doubling your fun unintentionally!
You can only play the games if they’re the original ones in your account or if you’ve inserted the actual game disc into the console. Additionally, these updates can be obtained physically on the Nintendo Switch 2 as well.
