Prologue: Lumiere Walkthrough

Step right into the captivating city of Radiance! Although the introduction may seem brief, you’ll be amazed by the numerous treasures hidden within this enchanting town, especially during its vibrant festival. I’d be delighted to guide you through, unveiling everything from essential navigation tips to those elusive secrets that often go unnoticed.

The Gommage

Initially when you control Gustave, you’ll find yourself conversing with Maelle. She proposes guiding you towards town. Prior to following her, make sure to pick up the flower on a bench close by by pressing your interactive key. After that, Maelle will guide you to an opportunity for you to employ your grappling hook. Simply target and press the action key to swing over the gap.

While traversing the rooftops alongside Maelle, she’ll pause and invite me to a friendly sparring match – a hidden tutorial for the game’s combat system. If you’re new to this game like me, I can’t stress enough how beneficial it would be to engage in this tutorial. Here, you’ll grasp the intricacies of the Battle Wheel, understanding AP as your combat currency, and mastering the Timeline that signals whose turn is approaching next. It’s also an excellent opportunity to hone your skills in dodging and parrying to stay out of harm’s way.

In this battle, you’ll have the opportunity to test Gustave’s unique abilities. Initially, there’s Lumière Assault, which is a series of attacks that accumulates power. Then there’s Overcharge, a potent move that unleashes all the stored energy. Once the training is complete, you will receive a Lumina’s Color.

After a bit more of your agile rooftop maneuvers, you’ll come across a luminous vine. Descend using this to reach the street level, where you’ll encounter a red-and-white tree that Maelle had pointed out before. Here, you’ll meet Sophie and have a quick chat. Without any further action needed from you, Gustave will hand over the flower you collected earlier to her.

As I’m about to set off for the Gommage ceremony at the docks, let’s take a quick peek around first. Gotta keep my eyes open – there might be a trash can hidden behind that tree on either side that I can check out. Oh, and don’t forget to grab the glowing Chroma x125 tucked away on the right-hand side of the area, nestled next to a stack of boxes!

Heading towards the docks, I strike up a conversation with Tiffanie by the towering tree. Continuing on my journey, I eventually find myself amidst a bustling crowd gathered around an intriguing statue. This particular spot seems ripe for discovery, and engaging in dialogues with the diverse characters here promises to reveal more about this fascinating world we’re both exploring together.

If you cast your gaze to the right, you’ll spot “Chroma x125” on a pile of wood that can be reached by leaping onto it. Next, veer to the left of the statue and you’ll encounter a piano that plays a pleasant melody. Following the piano, you’ll discover another “Colour of Lumina” by inspecting discarded furniture items.

Head toward the statue and engage the man dressed in a red outfit found on its left side. Later on, Richard will provide you with a uniform that belongs to his son, which you’ll require at a later time as part of your upcoming reward.

Make your way towards the statue and speak to the individual wearing a red suit nearby. In due course, Richard will supply you with a uniform for his son, an item you’ll need for your future reward.

Continue forward until you reach a platform with a “Join the Expedition” sign overhead. To your left, you’ll encounter Eloise who issues a challenge to break a Punching Bag with just one strike. This is an excellent opportunity to put into practice the skills you learned during the tutorial. Accumulate your Overcharge and then release it all at once to shatter the Punching Bag in a single blow. Eloise will reward you with a “Lumina Color” for your success.

Behind Eloise, there’s a cul-de-sac where you’ll find a dustbin and a door stacked with suitcases. If you pay close attention to the muffled noises coming from behind that door, you’ll hear a pair of Joy Seekers having some private moments. The real trick is to listen carefully 33 times (yes, precisely 33 times!). After this many listens, you’ll receive a different message, and they’ll offer you a Hue of Illumination as an incentive for leaving. Definitely worth the effort!

As you make your way through the festival, keep an eye out for Lune strumming her guitar to your right side. Ascend the stairs located behind Lune to find Chroma x125, and directly in front of Lune, you’ll come across a painter fixated on an empty canvas. Assist him by engaging in a straightforward dodging challenge to ignite his creative spark, and he will reward you with a handy item named Recoat.

Once you’ve finished the mini-game alongside the painter, turn your gaze to the right where you’ll find a bin with a radiant blue edge. Interact with it several times. Over time, the enigmatic character known as “Trash-can Man” will appear and bestow upon you a Chroma Catalyst.

As you continue walking, you’ll encounter another statue adorned with horses at its base. To find Chroma x125, proceed to your left, it’s located behind a counter decorated with flowers. If you return to the horse-themed statue, you’ll discover a stage where kids are dancing. To the right of this stage, there’s a peculiar Mime character. Head towards it and engage in conversation.

This initial Mime character is ideal for honing your fighting abilities. It sets up a protective barrier and launches assaults through a three-hit hand sequence or a four-hit unseen hammer attack. To conquer a Mime, utilize a skill that can shatter its armor, and in this scenario, Gustave’s Overcharge is effective.

Employ the Lumière Assault move to accumulate charge, followed by Overcharge to crack his defense. When he’s momentarily disoriented, attack him with standard moves to seal the deal. This action will earn you a “Lumiere Record” and the “‘An Unusual Encounter’” achievement as a reward.

After conquering the Mime, make your way towards the harbor situated beyond the horse statue. Remember, from here on, there’s no going back, so make sure to attend to any remaining tasks or chores before proceeding. Enjoy the Gommage celebration!

The Festival de L’Expedition

Following the heartfelt scene, you’ll promptly be escorted to the “Festival de L’Expedition”. It is here where you’ll obtain your initial “Festival Token”. Gathering more of these tokens will allow you to collect all the festival goods.

Search for a boy wearing a red jacket; that’s Richard’s child. You’ll receive the Red Coat Armor from him after you get it from the Wardrobe menu. Afterward, face left and move towards the spot where there are three boys together. Chat with them, and they will pass on the Expedition Logbook to you, which you will need later.

Head over there and spot Antoine, he’s the gentleman without hair, standing by the azure tent. Have a chat with him, as he’ll pose some questions your way. Respond correctly, and you’re good to go!

  2. Expedition Zero
  3. Abilities you internalize by using a Pictos in battle after enough times

Get them all right, and Antoine will reward you with 1 Festival Token.

Alright, let’s make our way to the dock now. There, I’m supposed to face off against Maelle. Once we clash swords, if luck is on my side and I emerge victorious, she’ll reward me with the crucial Festival Token. Don’t fret if things don’t go as planned at first; we can always have another go until I manage to snatch that victory from her grasp.

Make your way back to the festival, explore each tent to gather all Festival Items. Tom has a special Weird Symbols for you, Amandine is providing a new hairstyle, and Colette will present an ancient key.

After gathering all your items, approach Gustave’s sister, Emma, to conclude the Prologue and kick off Act 1: Blossoming Meadow.
