Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan series is among the most well-liked animanga franchises in recent times. The manga concluded in the year 2021, while the initial animated series ended in 2023; however, a movie followed to provide the anime with a grand, cinematic conclusion.
Though Isayama hasn’t shared new material for the Attack on Titan universe that could be considered a direct continuation of the initial narrative, it appears that the franchise remains alive and well.
At the latest “Attack on Titan – Beyond the Walls Tour”, a special appearance has fueled whispers about some upcoming news. If this speculation proves accurate, it could mean exciting times ahead for fans of this popular series!
On April 12th, producer Tetsuya Kinoshita graced the event as a special guest and engaged with the audience. Despite the focus on music, he momentarily steered the conversation towards television, asking the crowd, “Has anyone caught ‘The Last Attack’?
Here is where his speech started, as he began: “The saga of ‘Attack on Titan’ has reached its end, but we are eager to keep creating and hosting more events in the future. This includes movies like ‘THE LAST ATTACK’, concerts, and numerous game collaborations. We hope to see you all again at our 15th and 20th anniversaries, and we aim to continue for many years to come.
Although musical events aren’t uncommon in anime, Kinoshita hinting at future films suggests some new developments may be on the horizon. It’s currently doubtful that Isayama is involved in an official project, but there are numerous spin-offs and light novels that could potentially be turned into series instead.
As a fan, I’ve found Ryo Suzukaze’s “Attack on Titan: Before the Fall” prequel and Ryo Kawakami’s “Attack on Titan: Harsh Mistress of the City” to be compelling reads, and if Kinoshita wasn’t merely trolling us, it seems some of these works might be getting adapted too.
Of course, we’ll bring you all the updates as soon as they are available!
