Prince Harry Claims King Charles ‘Won’t Talk to Him’ Over Security Issue; What He Wants Amid Father’s Cancer Diagnosis

In simpler terms, Prince Harry stated that his disagreement with the British government over security issues, which reportedly involved King Charles III, has resulted in a strain in their relationship with his father. Following a court decision against him to restore his taxpayer-funded police protection, Harry shared his feelings during an emotional interview, stating they haven’t spoken since then. Yet, he expressed hope and a strong wish for reconciliation, especially considering the King’s current health battle with cancer.

During an interview with the BBC, Prince Harry made it clear he’s having trouble reaching someone due to security-related issues. This remark was made shortly after a court decision went against his attempt to restore publicly funded protection within the U.K.

Harry stated that the disagreement regarding security, arising from his stepping down from royal duties in 2020, was the main cause of the communication breakdown with King Charles III. He further expressed, “I yearn for reconciliation with my family. There’s no benefit in carrying on the struggle any longer.” Regarding his father’s health, he commented, “I am unsure how much time my father has left.

2020 saw a significant worsening of the rift as Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, moved to the U.S., leading to the revocation of their security privileges by an official committee. According to Harry, this move—reportedly influenced by palace officials—endangered his family. “What I find hardest to forgive,” he stated, “is the decision made in 2020 that impacts my daily life and, more importantly, places me and my family in danger.

The Buckingham Palace agreed with the court’s verdict, showing no plans to revisit the issue soon. Meanwhile, Prince Harry thinks there’s still a chance for resolution, implying that King Charles might need to relinquish control and allow experts to handle security-related decisions. According to Harry’s lawyer, Shaheed Fatima KC, the situation is critical as Harry’s life is at risk.

As per the prince’s statement, both the Palace’s strategy and that of the UK Home Office have eroded not just his confidence but also his assurance to securely travel to the country. The UK Home Office asserts that there’s no reason for providing security support, financed by public funds, for the duke and duchess within Britain.

In spite of the court decision not going in his favor, Harry maintains optimism about reconciliation and emphasizes that his focus is primarily on securing safety, not just for himself but also for his loved ones. He has addressed Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, requesting a review of the process and appealing to both the government and his family for their attention in this matter.
