As a lifestyle expert with extensive experience in royal dynamics, I must say that this year’s Christmas celebration within the British Royal Family seems to be shaping up as a rather somber affair. The ongoing estrangement between Prince Harry and his family, particularly his brother, Prince William, and their father, King Charles, is quite disheartening.
As a devoted follower, I’m sharing an update: Prince Harry and his beloved wife, Meghan Markle, are planning another festive season apart from the Royal Family in the UK, following their move to America. The latest news indicates that they will not be joining the Christmas gatherings with the British Royal Family at Sandringham this year, due to their ongoing distance from the Windsors.
Based on a report mentioned in People magazine, it appears that the hosts did not extend an invitation to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to take part in the traditional annual gathering with other members of the Royal Family at Norfolk House. Previously, they had attended this event in 2018, celebrating one year of their marriage. Instead, they plan to celebrate Christmas in the United States, where they have resided since relinquishing their royal duties in 2020.
Ongoing disagreements persist among the members of the Royal Family, particularly between Prince Harry and his brother William, as well as their father, King Charles. It appears that Harry’s efforts to reconnect with his family, specifically with the King, regarding personal and familial issues have been ignored. This rift follows a string of public disagreements, including Harry’s critical memoir Spare, a candid 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey that was highly critical of the royal institution, and other contentious matters.
On the contrary, King Charles, together with Queen Camilla, Prince William along with his spouse Kate Middleton and their offspring, George, Charlotte, and Louis, will carry on the Victorian-era custom of celebrating Christmas at Sandringham.
Kate Middleton has shared a heartfelt holiday message on Instagram, previewing her upcoming “Together at Christmas” carol service at Westminster Abbey. In her note, she emphasizes the significance of love, understanding, and our collective need for each other during challenging times. This message will be personally delivered to guests attending the “Together at Christmas Carol Service” in Westminster Abbey as well as the fifteen community carol services taking place nationwide, expressing gratitude towards those who selflessly help others.
Following a tough year for the royal family, marked by King Charles III and Princess Diana’s cancer diagnoses, this holiday season promises a shift in their celebratory customs. According to People magazine, the monarch is no longer responding to calls from Prince Harry. However, despite the strained relationship, the royals are committed to upholding more family traditions and unity, much like the late Queen Elizabeth demonstrated during festive seasons.
