Luke Sparke is back with Primitive War 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular war-horror film. The movie is based on the novels by Ethan Pettus and Sparke wrote and directed it.
I’m so thrilled to hear that Sparke Films is making another Primitive War movie! The first one really resonated with people, and I’m excited they’re building on that success. It was such a cool mix of believable military action and the terrifying idea of surviving alongside dinosaurs – I can’t wait to see what they do with the sequel!
A Darker, More Intense Sequel
The film takes place after a devastating war and centers on a new American platoon sent into a dangerous valley in Vietnam. As they venture deeper, they uncover Cold War mysteries and face threats from enemy combatants, dangerous wildlife, and an increasing feeling of unease.
Writer-director Luke Sparke explains that while the first movie focused on initial discovery, this new film explores what happens when things spiral out of control. It’s about how quickly nature can change compared to military strategies, and how the original conflict becomes less important than the consequences that are unleashed.

Same Team, Bigger Scope
Daniel Sparke, who previously wrote, directed, edited, created the visual effects, and designed the production for the first film, is working again with many of the same crew members in Queensland. Carmel Imrie, Carly Sparke, Geoff Imrie, and Alex Becconsall are all returning as producers, and Let It Be Entertainment is producing the project once more.
The filmmakers are currently choosing actors, and filming will start soon, with the movie expected to come out in 2027. Interest from international distributors and studio partners is growing, and new agreements are being discussed to continue the series.
The Book Series Lives On
Primitive War 2 is once again based on the book series by Ethan Pettus.
Pettus said he really enjoyed the first Primitive War movie and is looking forward to seeing the next one.
The first Primitive War movie gained a dedicated following worldwide, with viewers appreciating its realistic effects, serious themes, and unique blend of genres. The upcoming sequel aims to be even more intense and creatively daring.
Luke Sparke is represented by Ben Levine at Link Entertainment, Vivek Kolli of Kolli Management, and Adam Vitable from Hirsch Wallerstein.
