Prime Video’s new series Joseph of Egypt is growing! Six new actors have joined the cast to play important characters in this biblical story.
Alexa Mansour, Shila Ommi, Christopher Maleki, Alonso Rappa, Johnny Visotcky, and Jay Abdo have all become part of the project, taking on roles that will appear repeatedly.
This series retells the biblical story of Joseph, portrayed by Adam Hamshi. It begins with Joseph being betrayed by his brothers and subsequently sold into slavery.
Even so, he achieves a position of great influence in Egypt, becoming second in command only to the Pharaoh. However, when he is finally reunited with his family, Joseph is confronted with a challenge that puts everything he’s worked for to the test.
Mansour will play the part of Asenath, who is Joseph’s wife. Ommi will be seen as Senebsen, and Maleki is cast as Potiphar. Rappa will act as Benjamin, Joseph’s younger brother. Visotcky will portray Zebulun, and Abdo will take on the role of Bastis.
The leading cast features Alexander Siddig as Jacob, Babak Tafti as Simeon, Daniel Peera as Reuben, and Iris Bahr as Leah. Additional actors such as Dakota Shapiro, Amir Malaklou, and Navid Negahban will portray various members of Joseph’s family and figures within the Egyptian court.
Craig Wright is the writer, lead, executive producer, and showrunner for the series. Amazon MGM Studios is producing it, working with Dallas Jenkins – the creator of The Chosen. Jenkins also serves as an executive producer through his 5&2 Studios.
The six new actors joining the cast have impressive backgrounds. Mansour is well-known for playing a main character in The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Ommi has a significant part in the Apple TV+ series Tehran.
Maleki has acted in Homeland, Scandal, and The Chosen. Rappa recently appeared in Dark Winds, while Visotcky has worked consistently in both television and stage productions. Abdo has acted alongside Nicole Kidman in Queen of the Desert and Tom Hanks in A Hologram for the King.
Combining stories from the Bible with a diverse group of actors from around the world, Joseph of Egypt is expected to be a major historical drama on Prime Video.
