‘Predator: Badlands’ Shatters Major Franchise Box Office Record

“Predator: Badlands” continues to perform well in theaters, recently earning an additional $13 million. Its total domestic earnings now reach approximately $66.3 million.

The film has already become the highest-grossing Predator movie in the U.S. It’s earned over $136 million worldwide, and with a production budget of $105 million, it’s quickly becoming profitable.

This new movie is the ninth installment in the Predator franchise and was produced by 20th Century Studios. Dan Trachtenberg directed the film and collaborated with Patrick Aison on the story. Aison also wrote the screenplay. Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi lead the cast.

“Predator: Badlands” tells the story of Dek, a young Predator exiled from his tribe. Stranded on a hostile planet after a crash landing, he must fight to survive and regain his status as a hunter.

During the battle, he unexpectedly teams up with Thia, an artificial human created by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation who is also struggling with injuries and a troubled history. Together, they confront a dangerous, powerful creature that tests the limits of both their survival skills and primal instincts.

In past interviews, Trachtenberg revealed he initially envisioned a three-film arc for the Predator series, with ideas titled “Predator: Killer of Killers” and “Predator: Badlands,” plus another movie he’d like to direct if this current film is successful. Discussions have also reportedly taken place regarding a potential return for Arnold Schwarzenegger as Dutch in a future installment. Additionally, fans and industry insiders are buzzing about a possible sequel to “Prey,” and the original cast members have expressed interest in reprising their roles if one is made.

The Predator movies are doing well in theaters and people are excited about potential new installments, suggesting a very active period for the franchise.
