The film Predator: Badlands performed even worse than expected during its second weekend in theaters. After a slow start during the week, the movie’s earnings dropped sharply by 67.5% over the weekend, bringing in just $13 million.
That’s a devastating fall for a $105M movie that needs at least $262.5M worldwide just to break even.
Claims that Predator: Badlands is the most successful Predator film at the box office are misleading because they don’t account for inflation. For instance, the original Predator movie from 1987, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, earned a substantial $170.7 million domestically when adjusted for inflation. Additionally, reports aren’t mentioning how much money the film needed to earn to break even.

Domestic: A Weak $66.3M Total After 10 Days
As of Sunday, the numbers are grim:
- Domestic: $66,304,860
- International: $70,000,000
- Worldwide: $136,304,860
The film is currently performing significantly below expectations. To put it in perspective, Weapons, which had a similar opening, earned $88.5 million in its first ten days and ultimately grossed $151.5 million domestically. Badlands is lagging far behind that, and its numbers are declining more quickly. If this continues, Badlands is projected to finish around $113.5 million domestically.
The film’s PG-13 rating didn’t seem to matter, and attempts at humor – like the Marvel jokes and the character meant to resemble ‘Baby Yoda’ – ultimately fell flat.

Foreign Box Office Is the Only Lifeline
The film is currently relying on ticket sales from outside the US, but it still might not succeed unless it becomes surprisingly popular in other countries.
To break even, the film needs to more than double its current worldwide gross.

Predator: Badlands is collapsing fast
With a $13 million second weekend, it’s clear that Predator: Badlands is underperforming. Its box office numbers are lower than expected, fall short of comparable films, and aren’t strong enough for a movie of this scale.
If things don’t drastically improve with overseas audiences, Disney is likely to lose a significant amount of money on this new Predator film.
