As a devoted fan, I can’t help but be thrilled by Investigation Discovery’s knack for unveiling captivating stories. Following the resounding success of Quite on Set, they’re back with another intriguing offering, this time delving into the less-explored aspects of numerous series behind the scenes. In the latest installment of Hollywood Demons, a writer and actor from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers bravely shared their personal struggles during the production of that action-packed series.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share some fascinating insights that many of us have encountered, thanks to Audri Dubois’ recent revelations. In an intriguing sneak peek for Entertainment Weeky, she dished the gossip about a background actor on the set. “During our pilot shoot, we were out in the scorching desert – temperatures hitting a staggering 110 degrees – and someone suffered from heatstroke,” Trini, the original Yellow Ranger, recalled.
Subsequently, she emphasized that the specific extra on set was portraying one of the villains, clad in a drenched wetsuit, with a rubber mask concealing his head, featuring tiny openings for both eyes and mouth.
He was thrashing about, much like a flustered fish. … My colleagues and I had united and decided to halt our actions until that individual was safely transported in an ambulance,” the actress reminisced.
Instead, it’s worth noting that Dubois was initially replaced by Thuy Trang prior to the first episode airing. Later on, Trang departed from the show during its second season due to significant contract disagreements.
Audri Dubois went on to explain that they eventually offered $100 to anyone willing to put on the costume and assist with filming the scene. Remarkably, someone accepted the offer. The individual was initially found in their underwear, lying in dirt and writhing around, awaiting an ambulance, as described by the ex-Yellow Ranger.
While Audri Dubois was already terrified, head writer Tony Oliver further explained that the contract permitted the production team to mistreat actors and even push them beyond safe limits, potentially causing their deaths.
For decades, the Power Rangers have consistently ranked among the public’s favorite television shows, gracing both the big screen in four movies and more than 25 television productions.
