As a dedicated follower of Post Malone‘s journey, I must say his transformation into fatherhood has been nothing short of inspiring. From the rough path he was on just four years ago to the rejuvenated man he is today, it’s clear that DDP, his little bundle of joy, has worked wonders in his life.
29-year-old Post Malone has been contemplating his fresh role as a dad, labeling it an all-encompassing change. During a chat with Anthony Mason on CBS Sunday Morning, the musician opened up about the insights he’s gained through fatherhood.
Malone, who has his daughter’s initials, DDP, tattooed on his forehead, believes fatherhood has positively changed him. He recounted feeling penniless and isolated about four years ago, but now, his life has improved significantly thanks to his daughter and her mother.
Four years back, I found myself treading a rocky road, and boy, it was a tough grind! I’d be hard-pressed to find words to describe just how bleak things were for me then. Solitude, my friend, weighed heavy on me like an unshakable burden.
Malone now feels rejuvenated, calling fatherhood “the most amazing thing.”
Previously, PEOPLE received an exclusive sneak peek of Bob’s rehearsal video for the tune “Yours,” scheduled to appear on the forthcoming F-1 Trillion album, due out August 16. Although Express has kept the song’s message largely under wraps, Malone divulged during an interview that it carries a personal touch as it is intended for his future daughter’s wedding. He envisions the track being played at many weddings and becoming cherished by numerous listeners. Malone had previously shared a snippet of the song on social media for Father’s Day, and he is now excited to unveil the complete version.
In Malone’s letter, he shares his complex feelings as he envisions walking his daughter during her wedding. He recalls the bittersweet sensation of letting go, remembering the sight of her in a pink dress, even though she will be dressed in white for the occasion. The song stirs memories of her first milestones such as her initial steps and words.
Malone grapples with the ordinary feelings that fathers experience when they help their daughters embark on a fresh phase in their lives. He understands that even though another person might become her partner, she will remain his world. The song expresses his understanding that someone else may love his daughter deeply, as lyrics such as “We’ll both love her forever / But I loved her long before / And one day I know I’ll give her away / Pal, that doesn’t mean she belongs to you.”
