Pope Francis Death: What Will Happen After The Pontiff’s Passing? Know About Mourning Period to Funeral Plans

Global communities were taken aback by the news of Pope Francis‘s passing, sparking curiosity about the upcoming mourning rituals and funeral arrangements for many people.

As stated in a Daily Mail article, we’re looking at a nine-day period of official mourning. Yet, the traditional gathering of cardinals in the Sistine Chapel, known as the conclave, where they select the next pope, won’t commence for at least 15 days from now, according to the report.

Initially, the Vatican Chamberlain, presently known as Cardinal Kevin Farrell, will announce the Pope’s demise in an official manner by pronouncing his name thrice near his bedside.

Furthermore, it’s said that the Papal Fisherman’s Ring will be taken off his finger and broken apart using a hammer. Additionally, the Pope’s official office and personal homes are expected to be secured and closed off.

As a devoted follower, I eagerly anticipate that following the Pope’s passing, his body will be adorned in vibrant red vestments and crowned with a white miter on his head. Then, he will be gently transported to St. Peter’s Basilica, where he shall remain for an honorary three-day vigil. It is reported that his funeral will transpire within six days, according to reliable sources.

Instead of being interred beneath St. Peter’s Basilica like many of his predecessors, Pope Francis is said to be planning to be buried at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, located in Rome’s Esquilino district.

If you haven’t heard already, Pope Francis passed away a few months following his hospitalization due to an infection that progressed into double pneumonia, which later caused kidney failure. As per reports, he spent his last moments blessing thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square on Easter Sunday.
