The latest addition to the Pokémon TCG Pocket has just been activated, introducing an enormous number of fresh cards – making it the largest non-debut card set yet!
As a gamer, I’m thrilled about diving into the “The Wisdom of Sea and Sky” expansion – set A4! This bad boy is more than just your average booster pack; it’s a whopping two-booster set, approximately double the size of my usual limited single-booster expansions. To give you an idea, the previous two full sets, “Celestial Guardians” and “Space-Time Smackdown,” each came with 239 and 207 cards respectively. So buckle up, folks! This expansion is a treasure trove waiting to be explored!
This set, titled “Wisdom of Sea and Sky,” largely centers around Pokémon initially found in the Johto region. Each starter Pokémon from this area is included, along with their respective evolutions. Interestingly, unlike many past collections featuring starter Pokémon, there are no Pokémon ex cards depicting their fully evolved forms in this set. It’s possible that we might see this in future special editions, but only time will tell.
For the very first time in the game, the latest collection introduces Baby Pokémons. These unique Pokémon cards have had various versions in the traditional card game throughout the years, and TCG Pocket has incorporated elements of their past manifestations. Unlike regular Pokémons, Baby Pokémons do not possess weaknesses or retreat costs. Instead, their attacks, which don’t inflict damage but come with special effects, require no energy. They are all Basic Pokémons, yet they cannot evolve into anything, making them somewhat challenging to utilize. However, their adaptability should make them an engaging choice for most decks due to their versatility.
In the Sea and Sky expansion, there are a grand total of 241 cards. Among these, 161 are regular Standard set cards, 24 are Illustration Rare cards, and another 24 are Special Illustration Rare cards, with 8 of the latter having rainbow borders. Additionally, this set introduces 2 new Immersive Rare cards and 2 new Hyper Rare cards. You’ll find an ex version of Ho-Oh and Lugia among these rarities each.
There are also 20 new Shiny Rare cards and 8 new Shiny Rare ex cards.
