Pokémon TCG Pocket is getting a major update to its Card Dex Registration system to address a significant issue players have been experiencing. However, this fix won’t be released until Summer 2026.
The team listened to what players wanted and confirmed that cards from the Deluxe Pack: ex will work with older card collections, and vice versa. However, the update to make this happen won’t be released until sometime after Summer 2026.
We’re excited to give you a quick update about upcoming changes to the card collection feature in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Thanks so much for being a part of this community and for all your feedback! 🙏

The Deluxe Pack: ex has sparked debate among Pokémon TCG Pocket fans. It’s only available in October and contains fewer cards than usual, but it does guarantee a rare ‘ex’ card. Some players are concerned this makes it harder to collect the entire base set, even though the set itself is quite large – with 353 cards, it’s more than twice the size of other similar booster packs.
Adding to the frustration, this set largely consists of cards players can already find. Even if you get these older cards, they only contribute to the Deluxe Pack: ex collection, meaning any you already own don’t count. Instead of helping players complete their collections, this pack actually makes it harder.
We’ve received feedback about issues with the Deluxe Pack: ex, and the developers are working on a fix. However, the update might not be released until the next anniversary booster at the end of year 2, which is a considerable wait for those wanting to finish collecting the full card set.
You can still collect all the newest items by trading with others, but it could take a while to finish the set.
