As a devoted enthusiast, I’m constantly amazed by the Pokémon TCG Pocket, brimming with hundreds of cards ripe for collection and combat. Over the course of my gaming journey, it’s inevitable that I’ll amass multiple copies of numerous cards. These surplus cards don’t have to be shared with friends (although they can), but they serve a dual purpose: they can enhance your deck aesthetically as well, offering an exciting visual upgrade!

In the game Pokemon TCG Pocket, there’s an exciting feature called “flair” that allows you to utilize extra cards to add engaging effects to your cards and give your deck a unique touch – we refer to it as adding some “flair”. This guide will explain what flair is, the requirements for obtaining it, and how to get flair in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

Pokémon TCG Pocket: What is flair? 

In simpler terms, Flair is an engaging feature that allows you to exchange surplus cards for unique abilities you can display during fights. These abilities can vary widely, from visual elements such as sparks and glitter, to battle-specific effects like bubbles, dirt, and flames – some of which are even specific to certain types or Pokémon.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed there are two distinct types of card abilities: combat and aesthetic enhancements. Combat effects spring into action whenever a card is played, showcasing visuals such as sparks, clouds of dust, bubbles, and other dynamic elements that erupt from the card upon being placed on the battlefield. On the flip side, aesthetic effects are all about adding a touch of style to cards when they’re on the field, like a never-ending sparkle or moving symbol etched onto the card, making it stand out while in play.

Flairs do not influence the strength of cards; instead, they are strictly decorative elements designed for aesthetic purposes and serving as a way to utilize additional cards you may have.

Pokémon TCG Pocket: How to obtain flair 

To add style or rarity to your Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket collection, you’ll need two essential items: Shinedust and additional versions of a specific card. As you may know, extra card copies can be found by opening Pokémon TCG Pocket booster packs. To earn the style, you must have more than two identical cards; however, you cannot use cards for flair if it will leave you with fewer than two of that particular card. Variations in cards such as full arts are counted individually towards flairs.

You can gather Shinedust in several methods: by acquiring duplicate cards, completing missions and battles, or participating in events. Accumulating Shinedust is quite simple, and you’ll soon find yourself with a substantial amount of it. Currently, Shinedust serves exclusively for getting flairs, but it has no other purpose at this moment.

After gathering all necessary items, move on to the “My Cards” section, choose the card you’d like to personalize. Hit the “Get Flair” button, then opt for “Trade” to swap extra cards and Shinedust for the desired flair.

It’s important to remember that various card types come with their own distinct rules regarding flairs. Regular cards typically demand an initial trade for a Gold Sparkles cosmetic flair before any others can be acquired. To gain access to all possible flairs, further trades for additional flairs will also be necessary for these specific cards.

Full art Pokémon cards grant immediate access to various characteristics, without requiring an upfront investment. Unlike standard cards, full arts usually don’t include aesthetic extras but focus solely on battle-related traits. In contrast, neither full art Trainer cards nor regular ones have additional features, yet all full art cards can be swapped for special shop vouchers as well.

Occasionally, certain items are unique to specific events, accessible only to a limited number of cards during the event’s duration. These are commonly found in Mass Outbreak events, and acquiring them is quite straightforward – just navigate to the item purchase section on the highlighted card, and you can buy the item. Once purchased, it can be permanently attached to that card. However, once the event concludes, further acquisition of this particular item will no longer be possible.

Pokémon TCG Pocket: How to equip flair 

As a Pokémon TCG Pocket gamer, I’m glad to say that adding flairs to my cards is a breeze. Once I’ve obtained a new flair, I can either create a fresh deck or modify an existing one that includes the card I want to equip. In the deck’s list of cards, you’ll notice a tiny button on cards eligible for flairs. By tapping that button and selecting the desired flair, I can instantly customize my cards!

Some items don’t hold much value, but they do matter. When you earn a flair, it can only be applied to a single card. For instance, if you have two Pinsir cards in your deck and want both to bear the Gold Sparkles aesthetic flair, you’ll need to apply the flair twice – once for each card. Additionally, you can add cosmetic flairs to cards stored within binders and display boards as well.

Some things might seem unimportant, but they do matter. When you get a flair, it can only be used on one card. If you have two Pinsir cards and want both to have the Gold Sparkles design, you’ll need to apply the flair twice – once for each card.
