Pokémon TCG Pocket release trading feature and “Space-Time Smackdown” card expansion

Ever since its debut, the Pokémon TCG Pocket has skillfully revived the fondness that many people had for the Pokémon trading card game from their childhood days. The surge of nostalgia has been quite lucrative for The Pokémon Company, as numerous players have come back to the trading card game and a lot more newcomers like me are learning to play it, even though I used to just collect the cards when I was young.

On top of the excitement for the Pokémon mobile app’s success, a new update slated for January 29th will introduce an essential feature to Pokémon Pocket: the ability to trade cards between players.

The long-awaited trading aspect in Pokémon Pocket has been a hot topic, as the game hinted about its availability since launch. However, upon release, the trading feature will initially be restricted to certain cards. As per our current knowledge, these select cards can only be traded for others of comparable quality.

As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to learn that the new trading system in our game will operate using hourglasses and tokens similar to what we’ve seen before. These tokens will be exchanged for cards with rarities ranging from 1 to 4 stars, as well as 1-star cards of the same rarity. Previously, there were rumors that Shine Dust would be used for trades, but unfortunately, it seems those stockpiling this item will not get the chance to use it in this context.

Alongside regular training, a fresh pack release titled “Space-Time Smackdown” is coming up. This set includes cards primarily from the fourth generation, along with the legendary box characters Dialga and Palkia from Diamond and Pearl. Over the past few years, the fourth generation has been a significant part of the franchise, with its revival in the Nintendo Switch remakes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, as well as being the center of attention in Pokémon Legend: Arceus. Players can anticipate that the popularity of Generation 4 will carry over to this Pokémon TCG (Trading Card Game) expansion, offering exciting new possibilities for deck building when it’s released.
