Pokémon TCG Pocket: Best deck for the Ultra Beast Drop event

The most recent Pokémon TCG Pocket battle event has arrived! It starts today, June 4, 2025, and runs through until June 14, 2025. This special event revolves around Ultra Beast cards, featuring the captivating Dragon-type Pokémon card, Ultra Necrozma ex. In this deck, the gameplay attempts to harmoniously blend Metal and Psychic-type cards together.

In Battle Events, you’ll need special stamina to join the action, and each gem of stamina recovers after 12 hours. Luckily, you won’t use any stamina if you lose a fight. Event Hourglasses, which speed up the stamina recovery timer, can be obtained by winning battles for the first time, along with a few other prizes. Each card battle also comes with a set of Tasks to complete, rewarding extra benefits when finished, and Chance Rewards, through which players can acquire rare promo cards.

This event showcases a variety of ways to conquer the Ultra Beast decks, and there are terrific prizes for those who can claim victory over them all. In this guide, we’ll discuss the top decks for the Ultra Beast Drop tournament in Pokémon TCG Pocket, as well as its missions, objectives, and rewards.

Pokémon TCG Pocket Ultra Beast event: Best deck

At this event, you’ll encounter various Ultra Beast decks, primarily consisting of Psychic and Metal types. Since they don’t have a shared vulnerability, it’s important to note that Psychic-type cards are mainly weak against Darkness, while Metal-type cards are predominantly vulnerable to Fire. To minimize risks, we recommend using a Charizard ex deck from our top meta decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket, as it effectively targets the Fire weakness of Metal-type cards.

  • Turtonator (2)
  • Charmander (2)
  • Charmeleon
  • Charizard ex (2) – Shining Revelry
  • Kiawe (2)
  • Professor’s Research (2)
  • Lillie (2)
  • Giovanni
  • Potion
  • Poké Ball (2)
  • Rare Candy (2)
  • Pokémon Communication

One of the strongest decks in the current game format, the Turtonator and Kiawe combination offers a significant advantage during the early stages of play. With Kiawe’s ability to add two energy cards to Turtonator on the very first turn, you can deal 90 damage per turn from turn two onwards, which is rarely achieved by other decks. This trait proves particularly useful in the Ultra Beast event due to the excessive energy requirements of all Necrozma cards. As a result, you can often eliminate a few Pokémon before they have had a chance to set up their strategies.

In simpler terms, the second part of this deck contains Shining Revelry’s Charizard-ex cards, capable of dealing immense damage after investing a large amount of energy. Unfortunately, we don’t have any means to transfer energy to Charizard-ex directly, but its Stoke attack allows for setup over two turns, which should be sufficient to overpower the Ultra Beast lineup.

Pokémon TCG Pocket Ultra Beast event: Best low rarity deck

In certain decks for the Ultra Beast Drop event, specific tasks ask you to vanquish your opponent’s deck exclusively with cards that have a rarity of ♢, ♢♢, or ♢♢♢. This can be quite restrictive as it prohibits the use of Pokémon ex cards. However, there are effective Darkness-type decks that can accomplish this task at lower rarities. These decks also serve to fulfill the additional challenge in certain battles, which is to knock out Pokémon using attacks from a Darkness-type Pokémon.

As a gamer, I’ve put together a solid Darkness deck with a Poison theme – perfect for taking on the Intermediate difficulty Poison challenge! However, remember that when it comes to clearing the knockout challenge, it’s crucial that your final move originates from an attack, not just a tick of Poison.

  • Nihilego (2)
  • Grimer (2)
  • Muk (2)
  • Koga (2)
  • Cyrus (2)
  • Pokémon Center Lady
  • Potion
  • Professor’s Research (2)
  • Pokémon Communication (2)
  • Poké Ball (2)
  • Poison Barb (2)

In simpler terms, having Nihilego in your team increases the damage done by Poison tick over time. If you have two Nihilego, each turn will cause a Poisoned Pokemon to lose an additional 10 points of health, amounting to a total of 30 points per turn.

The Grimer line serves as your primary method for poisoning your opponent’s Pokemon. Grimer ensures a poison effect upon attack, while Muk inflicts 120 damage on a poisoned Pokemon. Should the situation become too challenging, Koga can return a Muk to his hand, allowing for a swift retreat.

Pokémon TCG Pocket Ultra Beast Drop Event: All Promo Cards

During the Ultra Beast Drop Event, any player who receives Promo Packs will find these cards in the gifts section on the app’s home page. These can be opened individually to reveal one card chosen randomly from a set of five. Each Promo Pack offers an equal opportunity for any of the five cards; therefore, getting an Ultra Necrozma ex is just as likely as receiving Stakataka – it’s approximately a 20% chance for each card.

Here’s the full list of cards in the Ultra Beast Drop Event Promo Pack:

  • Kartana
  • Blacephalon
  • Xurkitree
  • Dawn Wing Necrozma
  • Dusk Mane Necrozma
  • Stakataka
  • Ultra Necrozma ex

In this set, Ultra Necrozma X stands out as the main attraction due to its robust Dragon-type nature and lack of weakness, coupled with high damage potential. It may be a bit complicated to employ because it needs both Psychic and Metal energy for its signature move Shoogaze. However, if you manage to pull it off, Shoogaze will force both players to discard five cards from their decks, which could throw a wrench in your opponent’s late-game strategies.

It’s important to mention Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma because they don’t have standard versions, and they are quite strong, making them valuable additions for their respective Pokémon types’ categories. The other cards in the Promo Pack are just different illustrations of cards from the Extradimensional Crisis set.
