Pokémon Legends Z-A: How to get and restore fossil Pokémon

Pokémon Legends: Z-A, like other games in the series, features many amazing Pokémon to discover. A particular highlight for fans will be the return of fossil Pokémon! You can find three different fossil Pokémon evolutionary lines wandering around Lumiose City, often alongside other players.

Where to get fossils – Legends ZA 

You can find fossils at the Stone Emporium, located on Vernal Avenue just south of the Pokémon Center. They currently have three different types available.

  • Jaw Fossil – 20,000 Poké Dollars 
  • Sail Fossil – 20,000 Poké Dollars
  • Old Amber – 30,000 Poké Dollars 

You can get these items right from the beginning of the game, as soon as you unlock the city and reach the Stone Emporium. However, we suggest waiting a short while before buying one, as you’ll be able to save some money if you do.

How to restore fossils – Legends ZA 

You can start restoring fossils by completing a side quest that becomes available as you play through the main story. The quest, called “Restored from a Fossil” (quest #27), is given by Reg on the second floor of the Pokémon Research Lab, located at the southern end of Lumiose City.

At the beginning of this task, Reg will give you 20,000 Poké Dollars and ask you to find either a Sail Fossil or a Jaw Fossil. You can get one of these at the Stone Emporium. Once you have it, bring it back to Reg at the Lab, and he’ll revive it into a Pokémon for you right away.

After completing the quest, you can bring any fossil to Reg and he’ll restore it for you. 

You can bring fossils back to life in Pokémon! The Jaw Fossil revives Tyrunt, which then evolves into Tyrantrum. The Sail Fossil restores Amaura, leading to Aurorus. And the Old Amber brings back Aerodactyl, which can’t evolve further but *can* Mega Evolve.
