‘Pokémon Horizons: The Series’ Season 2 Confirms February Premiere Date in the U.S.

As a long-time Pokémon enthusiast with more than two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the introduction of Pokémon Horizons: The Series has been nothing short of exhilarating! After following Ash Ketchum and Pikachu on their adventures for so long, it’s refreshing to see a new set of characters taking center stage.

Back in 2023, the Pokémon universe decided to broaden its horizons and introduce a brand-new series called “Pokémon Horizons: The Series.” This exciting new show premiered on April 14, 2023, and has been airing in Japan ever since.

The choice was made after accompanying Ash Ketchum and Pikachu on their journeys for over two decades. Eventually, Ash reached the title of champion within the series, leading the producers to believe it was the right moment to retire him and pave the way for a fresh direction in the franchise, resulting in a new anime production.

Regarding the series, Netflix manages its distribution worldwide, and American viewers are accustomed to streaming it through this platform. At present, they eagerly anticipate the finale of the first season’s episodes, scheduled for release on November 22nd. Excitingly, information about the show’s second season has already been confirmed, with its U.S. debut also set for a future date.

The animated series titled “Pokémon Horizons” made its debut on April 14, 2023, in Japan. Since then, it has been broadcasted weekly, with occasional pauses as usual. As I write this, 73 episodes of the show have already aired in Japan, and there are more to come in the following weeks.

For global viewers, UK enthusiasts caught the initial episodes on December 1, 2023, with subsequent episodes following at later dates. In contrast, in the United States, Netflix premiered the first set of episodes on March 7, 2024, and has been releasing new batches since then.

To date, we’ve seen 34 episodes, with the latest group airing on August 9, 2024. However, a fresh batch featuring Episodes 35-45 is scheduled for release on November 22, 2024. This upcoming set will effectively conclude what American viewers consider as the first season of the series.

In Japan, Season 2, known as “The Search for Laqua,” began with Episode 46 on April 12, 2024. American viewers won’t have to wait long, as confirmed by Variety, the second season is set to premiere in the US on February 7, 2025. The exact number of episodes hasn’t been disclosed yet, but we can anticipate a similar count as before, roughly 10.

In case you’re excited to know what to expect from Season 2, here is the official synopsis:

For Liko and Roy, their journey persists as they roam the globe in pursuit of the six elusive Hero Pokémon and the fabled region of Laqua. Yet, to develop as skilled Pokémon trainers, a fresh test lies ahead: the enigmatic Tera Training!

In Paldea, Liko, Roy, and Dot need to sharpen their Terastallization abilities and take on the region’s formidable Gym Leaders. Afterward, Liko, Roy, and the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers pick up their hunt for the Six Heroes, which includes the mysterious black Rayquaza. As they go, both parties are in a rush to unravel the mysteries surrounding Terapagos and ultimately discover the route that will take them to Laqua.

At the moment, this is everything we’ve got. However, fresh episodes are on their way shortly, and the second season is not far off (only a few months away)! So, stay tuned with us for the most recent updates!
