Pokémon GO often holds events to coincide with the release of new Pokémon games, and it’s no surprise that Scopely is doing the same for the recently launched Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Pokémon GO is offering a special research quest that’s available until October 20, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time. Like other time-limited quests, you need to complete the tasks before the deadline to get all the rewards – otherwise, they’ll disappear.

At the beginning of the Timed Research event, you’ll need to pick one of the three starter Pokémon available in Pokémon Legends Z-A: Chikorita, Totodile, or Tepig. This choice will send you down a unique path with special rewards, so choose wisely!
Chikorita – Step 1 of 3
- Explore 1 km: Chikorita Candy x25
- Complete all tasks in this step: Chikorita
Chikorita – Step 2 of 3
- Power up Grass-type Pokémon 20 times: Chikorita Candy x50
- Use 25,000 Stardust: Chikorita Candy x50
- Complete all tasks in this step: XP x6,000, Poké Ball x10
Chikorita – Step 3 of 3
- Evolve a Bayleef: Razz Berry x3
- Earn 12 Hearts with your Buddy: Pinap Berry x3
- Complete all tasks in this step: Poffin x1, Chikorita Candy XL x12
Totodile – Step 1 of 3
- Explore 1 km: Totodile Candy x25
- Complete all tasks in this step: Totodile

When you encounter Pokémon using a Starter Net, you’ll find them with a unique, seasonal background. Plus, the Pokémon you select as your Starter will be more drawn to Daily Adventure Incense.
