Pokémon GO addresses one of its longstanding problems by enabling Remote Shadow Raids and Max Battles for distant players, starting from May 13, 2025 at 11am PDT. This feature kicks off during the Crown Clash: Taken Over event but will stay active beyond it as a permanent fixture.
Moreover, developers plan to increase the maximum number of daily Remote Raids allowed from five to ten. This adjustment is essential because Remote Shadow Raids will now contribute to this total.
Beginning on May 19, 2025, you’ll have access to Remote Max Battles – a feature that will be in place even after the Gigantamax Machamp Max Battle Day. Similar to the persistent changes made to Shadow Raids, the Max Battle alterations are here to stay.
Engaging in Remote Max Battles requires using a Remote Raid Pass, as well as the standard Max Particles cost. To note, the storage capacity for Max Particles is being boosted by 50%, raising the maximum amount to a substantial 1,500 particles.
Participants who attend Max Battles in person will receive some added perks later on, including extra Premier Balls and experience points (XP). By doing so, we’re keeping the spirit of offline gatherings alive.
After several months of community concerns and criticisms regarding the game’s remote play policies, particularly in challenging battles such as Shadow Raids and Max Battles, it’s wonderful news that these changes are now taking place. Needless to say, fans are thrilled to see their voices heard at last.
The primary concern dampening the excitement is that there’s been no adjustment in the pricing for Remote Raid Passes, which means it will continue to be somewhat expensive to play from home.
Besides this, developers are also implementing other strategies to maintain the longevity of the game. For instance, dataminers have discovered a potential new feature known as Hyper Training in Pokémon GO, which might turn out to be quite popular.
