On May 14, 2025, at midnight local time, Giovanni and his group make their return to Pokémon GO for the Crown Clash: Taken Over event. They’ve brought a revitalized selection of Pokémons along with new prizes to keep things exciting!

This time around, Team GO Rocket’s leader holds a Shadow Dialga in reserve. By finishing his unique research tasks and grabbing a Super Rocket Radar, you’ll get a chance to free this powerful Pokémon from him. As always, these missions also offer other valuable resources and items as rewards.

Pokémon GO Crown Clash: Taken Over – Special Research Tasks

During the event, this Specific Research can be accessed by anyone for free following login, as long as you don’t already have an ongoing Rocket Special Research. If you do, simply finish that mission and you’ll be able to start the current one without hassle. However, only one can be active at a time. Once logged in, there are no time constraints for completing these tasks.

Pokémon GO Crown Clash: Taken Over – Timed Research Tasks

For just $4.99 (or your regional equivalent), you’ll receive a pass that allows entry into the Premium Timed Event Research. Important to remember: you must finish the missions, collect the rewards by May 18, 2025, at 11:59pm local time, or they’ll disappear. This special mission includes another Super Rocket Radar, giving players an extra chance to catch a Shadow Dialga from Giovanni, along with the Regular Research.
