As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast, who grew up with the original trilogy and then rediscovered my love for the galaxy far, far away with The Force Awakens, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming mini-series, Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories—Codebreaker.
Fans of Star Wars have something exciting to look forward to in 2025. As the main film series continues to develop, the comic book series is also charting its own course with both classic and new titles that are enriching the established mythology. One such title will be arriving soon.
Specifically, “Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories—Codebreaker” is a forthcoming comic mini-series to mark the tenth anniversary of “The Force Awakens.” The narrative centers around Poe Dameron and his faithful droid, BB-8, who embark on an exhilarating mission against the First Order in this new adventure.
This comic was penned by Ethan Sacks, well-known for his work on ‘Star Wars: Bounty Hunters’, and showcases artwork by Marc Yarza, inking by Jose Marzan Jr., and vibrant colors by Nicola Righi. The letters are crafted by Comicraft. Look forward to some captivating cover designs from Diego Galindo, along with variants by Pye Parr and Sean Gordon Murphy.
The story picks up with Poe Dameron, a skilled pilot for the Resistance, and his loyal astromech droid BB-8. They’re tasked with a dangerous mission to investigate First Order tech that’s being used to decode Resistance messages.
However, a seasoned Starfighter pilot, recognized for their abilities, presents an obstacle. Can Poe’s aerial prowess prevail, ensuring the mission’s success, or will the Resistance face another disappointing outcome? The tension is palpable, as suggested by the official summary: the battle is about to intensify.
Poe Dameron is a confident, hotshot ace Resistance pilot. He and his outspoken droid companion, BB-8, have seen plenty of action against the First Order. Now, they are sent on a mission to investigate a piece of First Order tech used to decode Resistance messages, but standing between them and their objective is an infamous TIE fighter pilot. Can Poe out-fly his enemy, or will the mission go down in flames before it begins?
Starting April 9, 2025, the mini-series will debut, marking its first appearance on that day. You can find this issue at your local comic bookstore for $4.99. If you’re a fan of Poe and BB-8 in the Star Wars universe, don’t forget to pre-order! The series spans over four issues, promising an exhilarating expansion to the Star Wars universe.
Writing this series is like a dream come true for Ethan Sacks, as AIPT reports. Looking back on his experience, he expressed: ‘A decade ago, I attended the world premiere of The Force Awakens in a Hollywood theater as a journalist. I was spellbound by Oscar Isaac’s portrayal of Poe and that endearing, rolling astromech droid beside him. At the time, I never imagined I would contribute to their stories as part of this celebration.’
If you’re a fan of Edgar Allan Poe or BB-8, as seen in “The Force Awakens,” or simply a lover of all things “Star Wars,” don’t forget about this upcoming mini-series! Swing by your local comic bookstore and make sure to save the date – April 9, 2025. It promises to be an exciting adventure that you won’t want to skip.
