Apple TV+ remains a major player in the streaming world, offering both popular returning shows and exciting new releases. This week’s top ten most-watched programs cover a wide variety of genres, including thought-provoking science fiction and intense spy thrillers. It’s clear viewers are especially enjoying dramatic, high-stakes shows and comedies featuring well-known actors. Here’s a look at what’s currently capturing the most attention on the platform.
‘Invasion’ (2021– )

As a sci-fi fan, I was really drawn into this drama. It’s not your typical alien invasion flick – it doesn’t just focus on explosions and battles. Instead, it tells the story through the eyes of everyday people – folks in the US, Japan, and the UK, mostly – as they try to survive the first wave of attacks. What really got to me was how it showed the human cost of everything – families falling apart, societies collapsing. It’s a slow burn, building the tension as you slowly realize just how massive and terrifying this invasion really is. It’s more about the people than the spectacle, which I really appreciated.
‘Severance’ (2022– )

In the show, Adam Scott stars as Mark Scout, a worker at Lumon Industries. He and his colleagues have undergone a procedure called ‘severance’ which separates their work memories from their personal memories. As the team works, they uncover disturbing secrets about their jobs and the company. The show delves into thought-provoking ideas about control in the workplace and what makes us who we are, all within a strange and unsettling office setting.
‘Slow Horses’ (2022– )

Gary Oldman plays Jackson Lamb, the head of a team of failed spies. These agents, exiled to a department called Slough House after making serious career errors, are considered MI5’s rejects. The show is a thrilling mix of spy action, dark humor, and workplace dysfunction. Despite their own flaws and unhelpful bosses, the team frequently finds itself protecting England from major dangers. Each season is based on a different novel by bestselling author Mick Herron.
‘Ted Lasso’ (2020–2023)

Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis as an American football coach who unexpectedly takes charge of a British soccer team, even though he knows nothing about the sport. He charms the players and fans with his positive attitude and genuine kindness. The show follows the personal journeys of the AFC Richmond team and the bonds they form. Alongside Ted, characters like Roy Kent and Rebecca Welton also grow and change. It became incredibly popular for its feel-good take on competition and the importance of good mentorship.
‘Loot’ (2022– )

In the comedy series, Maya Rudolph stars as Molly Wells, who unexpectedly becomes incredibly wealthy after her divorce from a tech mogul. Hoping to improve her image, she starts actively participating in the charitable foundation she’d secretly funded for years. The show follows Molly and her quirky team as they work to make a difference, exploring her transformation from a disconnected billionaire to someone more relatable. It’s a funny look at workplace friendships and the ridiculousness of having extreme wealth.
‘Palm Royale’ (2024– )

Kristen Wiig plays Maxine Simmons, a woman determined to crash the exclusive world of Palm Beach high society in 1969. The comedy series follows her funny and often desperate attempts to fit in with the wealthy members of an exclusive club. With Ricky Martin and Laura Dern also starring, the show playfully examines themes of class and ambition. As Maxine tries to climb the social ladder, she encounters plenty of challenges and backstabbing. The series also beautifully recreates the colorful style and atmosphere of the late 1960s.
‘The Morning Show’ (2019– )

This drama, produced by and starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, takes a behind-the-scenes look at the competitive world of morning news. The show reveals the complicated relationships and personal struggles of the people who bring Americans their daily news. It tackles tough issues like office politics and sexual misconduct, and how these can ruin careers. Later episodes also cover how cyberattacks and company takeovers affect the news network at the center of the story. It’s a realistic and often gripping portrayal of today’s media industry.
‘Down Cemetery Road’ (2025)

This thriller, starring Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson, is based on a novel by Mick Herron. It begins with an explosion in a peaceful Oxford neighborhood and the disappearance of a young girl. Desperate for answers, Sarah Trafford hires private investigator Zoë Boehm to uncover what really happened. Their investigation quickly leads them into a complicated web of government secrets and dangerous individuals. The series combines dark humor with intense suspense as the two women try to solve the mystery.
‘The Last Frontier’ (2025)

Jason Clarke stars as Frank Remnick, the only U.S. Marshal working in the harsh Alaskan wilderness. When a plane carrying prisoners crashes, releasing dangerous inmates into the frozen landscape, Remnick is left to protect the town of Fairbanks. He believes the crash wasn’t an accident and teams up with a CIA agent to hunt down a particularly dangerous escaped convict. The series is a thrilling combination of survival story and manhunt.
‘Pluribus’ (2025)

As a sci-fi fan, I’m really excited about Vince Gilligan’s new show! It’s set in Albuquerque and the premise is fascinating – it’s all about what happens when everyone is forced to be happy. Rhea Seehorn, who I absolutely love, plays a romance novelist who’s somehow immune to this virus that’s turned everyone else into this peaceful, connected group called ‘The Others.’ Basically, everyone else is blissfully content, but she’s still… herself, with all her feelings, even the bad ones. It sounds like a really interesting exploration of what it means to be an individual and whether a perfect world is even worth it if it means losing your free will. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
