In a new tale by Pixar, we find Elio, a young boy, unexpectedly stepping up as Earth’s representative in an intergalactic setting where all odds appear to be stacked against him. According to Deadline, Zoe Saldana is set to lend her voice to the character of Elio’s aunt within this movie.

Pixar shared on social media: “Hey there, inhabitants of Earth! Join us at #D23 for a unique peek into #Elio featuring Yonas Kibreab and introducing our latest actor, Zoe Saldaña. Catch it in theaters Summer 2025!”

The narrative revolves around Elio, a resourceful yet underestimated young boy, who finds himself unexpectedly transported to Communiverse, a cosmopolitan hub housing diverse extraterrestrial species throughout the galaxy. Due to an unfortunate case of identity mix-up, Elio is thrust into the position of Earth’s ambassador, despite lacking any prior training for this role. As he navigates through this bizarre new universe, Elio forms relationships with alien beings, faces numerous challenges, and ultimately embarks on a quest to discover his true self and his hidden potential.

As a devoted follower, I can’t help but highlight the pivotal part Saldaña’s character plays in Elios journey. At D23, we caught a glimpse of young Elio, eagerly longing for cosmic adventures amidst the stars. Yet, his earthbound aunt would often advise him to live his life here on Earth rather than among the celestial bodies. However, as the intergalactic plot thickens, everything takes an unexpected turn.

Elio represents Pixar’s venture into the science fiction genre, offering a heartfelt storyline that explores themes of belonging, self-discovery, and bravery to step beyond one’s comfort zone.
