Pioneers of Pagonia, a city-building game similar to The Settlers, is now fully prepared for its official release on December 11, 2025. The developers have just released a map editor, giving players the tools to create their own worlds.
At Gamescom 2025, we got a hands-on look at a new, powerful tool Envision Entertainment is using to create game worlds. Envision’s Volker Wertich showed us how users can adjust things like the starting locations of groups, where resources appear, and even the placement of mountains. The tool then automatically builds the terrain and populates it with assets, similar to how it normally generates maps.
Because creating maps is a significant part of many games, automating the process saves players a lot of time and effort.
Players can upload, share, and play custom maps directly in-game thanks to mod.io integration.
