Pi Network’s PI Surges Past $0.20 Ahead of Key March 12 Deadline: Details

Despite recent market downturns, Pi Network’s token is continuing to increase in value. It’s actually seen gains in the last 24 hours, while Bitcoin and most other cryptocurrencies have decreased in price.

This difference likely stems from the team’s recent announcements, particularly the deadline for their next major update.

PI Rockets Above $0.20

Just under a month ago, on February 11th, Pi Network’s token was hitting new low prices almost every day. A general downturn in the market caused a significant drop in PI’s value, but it eventually stabilized at $0.1312 that day. This represented a loss of about 95% of its value from its peak on February 26, 2025.

Despite an initial dip, PI coin recovered quickly, briefly surpassing $0.20. It then fell back to $0.16 before rallying again, reaching a three-week high of over $0.20 earlier today. Currently, the coin is trading more than 50% higher than its lowest price in the past month.

The cryptocurrency’s value has risen to over $1.9 billion, making it the 44th largest by market capitalization. However, its recent gains could be at risk. A large number of tokens are set to be released tomorrow, and its Relative Strength Index (RSI) currently indicates it may be oversold, both of which are potential warning signs.

New Deadline Approaches

PI’s price usually rises when the development team makes major announcements. For example, it increased by 9% in a single day after the v19.9 update was released. Now, the team is working on another update, and many believe this is causing the recent price increases.

The team initially planned to finish the v20.2 update by March 14, 2026—Pi Day—but they’ve now accelerated the schedule and are aiming for March 12th.

The Pi Mainnet blockchain is being updated. All node operators need to finish step 3 of the upgrade process by March 12th to stay connected to the network. You can find more information here:…
