Phantom Blade Zero Confirmed to Be Console-Exclusive to PS5 for 12 Months

During The Game Awards 2024, Phantom Blade Zero announced its release date of September 9, 2026. A new trailer showcased both gameplay and story elements, and confirmed the game will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Similar to other PlayStation 5 exclusives like the new Silent Hill 2, this game likely won’t be exclusive for long – it’s expected to be released on other consoles after about a year.

Phantom Blade Zero Will Be a Temporary PS5 Exclusive

Despite earlier statements that it wasn’t partnering exclusively with Sony, PlayStation has announced that Phantom Blade Zero will be available on PlayStation consoles first for a year.

A message at the end of the game’s trailer clarifies that it will also be available on PC. However, it won’t be released on other consoles – like Xbox or Nintendo Switch – for at least a year after its initial launch. This means those versions likely won’t appear until after September 9, 2027, when the exclusivity period ends.

Phantom Blade Zero, created by S-GAME, is an action role-playing game that blends the style of ‘Wuxia’ – seen in games like Where Winds Meet and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers – with current gameplay trends. Importantly, it’s not a difficult ‘Souls-like’ game, which will likely appeal to players looking for something different.

Phantom Blade Zero’s story should take players between 20 and 30 hours to complete, with an additional 20 hours of optional side content. The game aims to make boss battles less frustrating by letting players restart from the second phase after a defeat, skipping the need to replay earlier sections.
