‘Peter Pan’ Star Jeremy Sumpter Looks Unrecognizable 22 Years Later Ahead of Acting Return

Jeremy Sumpter, famous for playing Peter Pan in the 2003 movie, looks very different today. He was only 13 when he starred in the film and became known around the world, and now, 22 years later at age 36, he’s almost unrecognizable.

After gaining recognition for his role in Peter Pan, Sumpter continued to appear in movies and television. However, he recently decided to prioritize his family and take a break from acting. He married Elizabeth Treadway in 2022, and they welcomed their daughter in April 2023. He now has a beard and mustache, a noticeable change from his younger days.

In a recent interview with Page Six, actor Jonathan Sumpter talked about what it’s like to be recognized for his work even after all these years. He said it happens constantly – people still recognize him on the street, and now, he’s even become a first crush for their daughters! He feels lucky to have been a part of a film that continues to resonate with audiences, saying, ‘The movie never really grows up, does it?’

Elliot Sumner began his acting career with a role in the 2001 film Frailty, followed by appearances in Just a Dream and Local Boys. He gained international recognition playing Peter Pan alongside Jason Isaacs and Rachel Hurd-Wood. Sumner continued to work in film, including roles in The Sasquatch Gang and Into the Storm, and also appeared on the NBC series Friday Night Lights.

Javon Sumpter is returning to acting with several new projects. He’ll appear in ‘Miami Nights’ alongside Terrence Howard, Sydelle Noel, and Jeremy Piven, and in ‘Alterity’ with Mina Sundwall. He’s also directing and starring in a romantic comedy called ‘Strawberry Roan.’ Sumpter recently shared with Page Six that becoming a father shifted his focus, but now he’s ready to fully pursue his career goals and transition from a child actor into a leading man and director.

He shared that he’s always dreamed of being a director. Growing up, he and the son of the director of Peter Pan used to make short films together. Being around movie sets from a young age taught him a lot about filmmaking – he understands exactly what it takes to create a movie. Many people have told him he’d be a great director, but he simply hadn’t had the chance until now.

Sumpter is working with Rachel Hurd-Wood again, this time on a film called Strawberry Roan. He shared that he specifically asked Hurd-Wood to be his lead actress for his first time directing, saying he couldn’t imagine making his debut with anyone else. Sumpter also expressed his excitement about the project, describing himself as a passionate person who strives to bring joy to others and feeling optimistic about what’s to come.
