Persona 5: The Phantom X Version 2.0 patch notes

An exciting development is on its way for P5X, as we’re about to unveil Version 2.0! This major update includes the long-anticipated third installment of the main storyline, featuring a fresh Palace, but it doesn’t stop there. Prepare yourself for an array of new features that will enrich your gaming experience. Expect encounters with novel Phantom Idols, opportunities to delve into unexplored corners of Tokyo, and innovative mechanics to master and optimize your daily gameplay.

We’ll break it all down in these full patch notes for P5X Version 2.0.

Main Story Chapter 3 Part 1

In Version 2.0’s major update, the upcoming segment of the primary story is notably larger than the initial two chapters introduced in the game. Due to its expansive nature, it’s being divided into four sections, with the first part arriving in this update. This installment will introduce us to a fresh Phantom Thief, Palace Ruler, and, naturally, a new Palace to begin our exploration. This chapter is anticipated to unveil some of the enigmas that were established by the previous two, even though specifics about what exactly are still scarce.

New Phantom Thief – Riko Tanemura (Wind)

In this chapter, we introduce Riko Tanemura, a fresh addition to our main characters, otherwise known as the Phantom Thieves of Desire. Unlike her comrades, she operates as a Navi unit, providing support from behind the scenes rather than engaging directly in battles. Her abilities primarily involve reducing the opponents’ defenses and lessening their recovery points, thereby creating advantageous situations for her fellow thieves to exploit.

In simpler terms, she’s going to become a top-tier character known as a 4-Star Phantom Idol. This character will join the regular banner. Furthermore, during the main storyline, you’ll receive her starting form, or A0 unit, for free when she awakens.

New Phantom Idol – Ayaka Sakai (Chord)

For free-to-play gamers, a common tip since the game’s start has been: Save your in-game currency for when Chord arrives, as she does. Chord is undeniably one of the best Support characters in the entire game, offering substantial Attack and Critical Rate boosts to DPS characters. However, her standout feature that makes her exceptional is her third skill. This skill allows you to trigger Highlight Attacks without filling the Highlight Gauge and bypassing cooldowns.

If you’re ever going to spend everything you have on one character, Chord is that character.

Limited-Time Banner Rerun – Joker

Starting from the day of the 2.0 update, the Joker’s limited-time banner will be back for a period of 30 days. This gives newer players who might not have encountered him before an opportunity to use their Platinum Contracts to attempt pulling him and his exclusive 5-star weapon once more.

New Mementos Area

As a fervent fan, I’m thrilled to share that the arrival of a new Palace brings about an exciting new zone in Mementos, filled with certain imperfections that will be revealed during your initial infiltration. Similar to the previous region, it boasts multiple levels teeming with bosses, tickets, and a treasure trove of free Meta Jewels waiting to be collected. Given its enticing offerings, it’s definitely worth delving into, possibly even before tackling the Palace itself!

New Area – Kichijoji

A fresh location from the actual map is being incorporated – Kichijoji. This place might ring a bell as it was the novel addition to Tokyo’s map when Persona 5 Royal was launched. It boasts an array of stores, among them a boutique where you can use in-game money to purchase new outfits from Wonder, and let’s not forget the new Capsule Machines where you can invest your earnings from part-time jobs.

New Mechanic – Tasks

From now on, you can dispatch your Phantom Idols on Missions. These are automated events where you assemble a group of Idols and send them away for a period of time. Upon return, they bring rewards that you can collect. These rewards aid in various training materials, however, the most valuable treasures emerge from weekly missions, offering Gold Contracts and Thief Cognitite Shards. These items are essential for crafting Cognitite Shards for 5-star Thieves, thereby boosting their Awareness Levels.

Hey there, fellow gamers! Diving into Persona 5 Royal’s P5X? Here’s a pro tip from me to you: don’t forget to check out the rundown on Thief Cognitite Shards. New Revelation Cards

In the recent 2.0 preview stream, it was revealed that seven new Revelation Cards will be incorporated into the game, but specific details about them are still scarce. Of these, four are Heavens Cards: Virtue, Oppression, Pleasure, and Labor. Additionally, there will be three Space Cards, though their exact functions remain unknown at this time. It is known, however, that some of the cards are designed to enhance Support Units, while others aim to boost underutilized elements such as Psio and Bless.

Check out our guide on P5X Revelation Cards explained for full details on what they do.

Super Levels

As a dedicated fan who’s hit the max level of 80 with Wonder in this game, I’m thrilled to share that we can now progress beyond the cap and enhance our character further through Super Levels! Each Super Level grants access to a fresh tier of Schema Points, which you can use to boost Wonder’s attributes. If you’ve been at Level 80 for quite some time, rest assured – all the XP you’ve accumulated since then will be automatically credited towards this new system, ensuring no progress goes unaccounted for!

In the latest update, I’m thrilled to share that Ayaka Sakai’s Synergy story has been expanded! Now, we can take our relationship further, all the way up to Rank 20. And get this, at Rank 15, a romantic path opens up, adding an exciting new dimension to our gaming experience together.

New Side Stories – Fumi Ogata and Ena Kageyama

Currently, you’ll be introduced to two unique individuals that you’ll get to know better and share a side tale with each. Fumi Ogata, although slightly peculiar, is a well-mannered young woman who will act as your guide around Kichijoji. Meanwhile, Ena Kageyama, once a cafe barista, has aspirations of running her own coffee shop. As you embark on various missions with them, you’ll have the opportunity to explore their individual stories further.

New Band Club tracks

Through Ayaka’s Synergy connection, she will become a member of the Band Club alongside you. This membership will grant us access to several fresh tracks to perform, enhancing our gameplay in the Band Club mini-game thanks to Ayaka’s Synergy skills, which greatly facilitate the mini-game.
