In the Version 2.0 update for P5X, a new character named Wind has joined the Phantom Thieves of Desire, taking on the role of the Navigator. Unlike other members who fight on the front lines, she works behind the scenes, providing support to the team. What makes Wind unique is her ability to weaken enemies by lowering their defenses, making it easier for the party to capitalize on their vulnerabilities.
I’ll provide all the necessary information about using Wind effectively in combat, recommend the ideal team setup for her, and suggest which Revelation Cards to use for maximum benefit.
All Wind skills and abilities in P5X
Chiyome Skills
- Scattered Plum Blossoms – Decreases all foes’ Defense by 10% for 2 turns. When Riko’s Speed is at 100 or more, decrease Defense by 4.9% for every 10 points of Speed over 100, up to 29.4%. Also inflict Insight on the main target.
- Dreams in the Mist – Increase all foes’ Damage Taken by 10.5% for 2 turns. When an ally reduces enemies’ Down Points or knocks down a foe, decrease cooldown time by 1. When cooldown time reaches 0, activate this skill.
- Verngale Petals – Spend all Intel stacks to grant Fair Winds to party for 1 turn and restore targeted ally’s HP by 12.7%. Fair Winds: Increase damage to foes by 12.6%. Increase more based on Riko’s Speed and the number of Intel stacks spent. If Riko’s Speed is above 100, increase damage by 1.05% for every 10 points of Speed over 100, up to 6.3%.
Hidden Abilities
- Springtime Tempest – At the start of battle, if Riko’s speed is above 100, increase party’s HP by 6, Attack by 2, and Defense by 2 for every 1 point of Speed above 100. Increase HP up to 260, Attack up to 120, and Defense up to 120.
- Plum Blossom Glory – Increase One More and All-Out Attack damage by 60%.
Awareness levels and abilities
- A1: Spring Squall – At the start of battle, inflict Insight on the foe with the most Down Points.
- A2: Ethereal Scent – After using Verngale Petals, inflict Insight on the foe with the most Down Points.
- A3: Harmonious Fragrance – Increase the skill levels of Scattered Plum Blossoms and Dreams in the Mist by 2.
- A4: One Thousand Blossoms – When an ally uses a Highlight, inflict Insight on the foe with the most Down Points.
- A5: Balance and Harmony – Increase the skill level of Verngale Petals by 2.
- A6: Majesty – If Riko’s Speed is above 100, when using Verngale Petals, decrease cool time for every 15 points of Speed over 100, up to 4 actions.
What do Insight and Intel do?
Wind’s special ability lies in Insight and Intel. Every third action taken by an ally triggers Insight on the enemy with the highest Down Points (represented as the small yellow number next to their health bar, which indicates the number of hits they can withstand before being stunned). With each instance of Insight inflicted, the damage the enemy takes increases by 6%.
When a party member uses Insight to attack an enemy, they expend the entirety of it to bestow Wind Intel. Once Wind Intel reaches two accumulations, you can now deal two less Down Points instead of one when attacking an enemy’s weakness. Additionally, Wind gains an Intel stack (up to eight concurrently) every time an enemy loses a Down Point.
How to use Wind in P5X
Boost her speed
It’s quite evident that you’ve observed how Wind’s special abilities and skills are enhanced when her speed stat is increased. To make the best use of her potential with Revelation Cards, aim to include as many speed boosts in them as you can. This will not only improve Wind’s performance but also benefit your entire party.
Skill priority order
As a general rule, it’s advisable to frequently employ Scattered Plum Blossoms, which is your primary Wind-based skill, as its recurrent capability to weaken enemy defenses is quite beneficial. However, when combined with Dreams in the Mist, its effectiveness increases significantly. You should resort to Verngale Petals only in emergencies, primarily for healing purposes, as it provides an attack boost, but defense reductions on enemies are more beneficial overall. In case of a dire need for healing within your team, there are other characters who can fill that role effectively.
Best team composition for Wind in P5X
Similar to many Navi units, there isn’t one ideal team for Wind-based characters, because they are versatile and can support a range of teams in various scenarios. However, she excels particularly well at bolstering strong damage dealers (DPS). Although she doesn’t boost their power directly, she weakens enemies to enhance the potency of their attacks. Furthermore, it is advisable to place her on a team that takes advantage of an enemy’s elemental weaknesses. In general, this should always be your strategy, but with Wind, it becomes crucial as her abilities become less effective without it.
Best weapon for Wind in P5X
The advancement of weapons in this game follows a straightforward pattern: the more stars a weapon boasts, the superior it becomes, considering both its statistics and abilities. Therefore, it’s advisable to aim for the best weapon during character development. Here are the stats and effects of every weapon belonging to Wind:
1. Stars: A measure of the weapon’s quality, with more stars indicating greater power.
2. Stats: Includes attributes like attack, defense, speed, and others that affect the weapon’s performance in battle.
3. Abilities: Special powers or effects unique to each weapon, providing additional benefits during gameplay.
- Snake Eyes Umbrella (2-stars) – HP 92; ATK 27; DEF 16 – Increase Attack by 11.3%.
- Blade Umbrella (3-stars) – HP 111; ATK 33; DEF 19 – At the start of battle, increase all allies’ Attack by 10% for 2 turns.
- Bright Moon Hook (4-stars) – HP 148; ATK 44; DEF 25 – Increase Attack by 12%. Permanently increase all allies’ Attack by 3.5% after breaking a Vulnerability, up to 5 stacks.
- Shinobi Tool: Winged Sky Blade (5-stars) – HP 185; ATK 55; DEF 22 – Increase Speed by 15%. For every 2 Vulnerabilities broken, gain 2 extra stacks of Intel and increase all allies’ Damage Dealt by 6% for 1 turn. Increase the cap of Intel to 11.
Best Revelation Cards for Wind in P5X
As a gamer, I’ve found that the new Revelation Cards added in the P5X Version 2.0 update, namely Labor & Resolve, are a game-changer for my favorite character, Riko. With Labor, not only does it boost Riko’s maximum HP, but it also provides an 8% HP buff to all her allies’ HP, Attack, and Defense. But the real magic happens when you pair it with Resolve. This combo amplifies Wind’s skillset, making each of her abilities more effective at debuffing enemies by adding an extra Defense reduction to every single one of them. It’s a strategic move that truly makes Riko shine on the battlefield!
