Closer has been significantly improved in the P5X Version 2.1 update. Her summer outfit not only changes her appearance, but also boosts her rarity from 4-star to 5-star and shifts her element from Electric to Bless. This makes her much more useful long-term. She’s a top-tier Sweeper, and as the only Bless-based attacker likely to be added to the game, it’s worth investing in building her effectively.
This guide will show you how to play Summer Closer/Trophical Motoha effectively. We’ll cover her abilities, ideal team combinations, and the best Revelation Cards to equip her with.

What does Tropical Heart do?
Tropical Heart is powered up by healing Summer Closer. She uses some of her health to perform skills, and it’s best to keep her HP above 50% to maximize her abilities. Therefore, characters like Mirian, who can frequently heal, are a good match. Each time Closer is healed, her attack power increases by 25% for two turns. After she’s been healed five times, Tropical Heart’s special ability activates.
Tropical Heart works with the Surf ‘n’ Shine ability, instantly letting you use it again. This allows for more frequent use of Summer Hype, which boosts the power of her other attacks.
How to use Summer Closer in P5X
Heal Summer Closer constantly
Even a small amount of damage to her health means you should heal her every turn to get the five healing stacks needed for Tropical Heart. Since Closer will likely take damage with her main attack, Blue Sunshine, it’s important to keep her health high, especially above 50%, to maximize her damage output.
Use Surf ‘n’ Shine whenever possible
Surf ‘n’ Shine triggers a powerful state for Closer called Summer Hype, dramatically increasing her damage output. Always use it as soon as it’s ready, because while it’s recharging, all of your other abilities become more effective.
Best team composition for Summer Closer in P5X
- Wonder (with a Bless-element healing Persona)
- Summer Closer
- Mirian
- Chord OR Queen
Summer Closer works best with a dedicated healing team for a few key reasons. First, many of her strongest abilities cost her health, which, while not enough to knock her out, can leave her vulnerable if you don’t heal her regularly. Second, to maximize her damage with her Tropical Heart ability, you need to heal her five times to frequently use her powerful Surf ‘n’ Shine skill. Lastly, several of her abilities, and the equipment we recommend, are most effective when she’s at around 50% health, so keeping her topped up is crucial.
Mirian is essential for your team because she’s the strongest healer available and can amplify Closer’s Bless attacks due to their shared element. Similarly, pair your best healer with Wonder to maximize Bless-based attacks.
The last team slot is fairly flexible. Chord is a solid choice because it boosts Closer’s damage and lets her use her special attack, Highlight, more often. Queen is also strong, offering high damage herself, plus she can heal Closer if needed.

When using a skill or Highlight, spend 1 Sunlight stack to increase the skill’s damage by the same amount.
