We’ve become accustomed to waiting a long time for new seasons of our favorite shows, so it’s really surprising when one returns quickly. That’s why the news about Percy Jackson and the Olympians feels so exciting! The show’s season two just finished airing on Disney+, and in a clever move, the end of the episode hinted at a third season… and it’s coming out later this year!
The second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians ended on a major cliffhanger. Usually, that would mean a wait of three to five years to find out what happens next, given how slowly TV shows are often made. But fans won’t have to wait that long – we’ll get answers within the same year! The season finale included a post-credits scene that excited fans of the Percy and Annabeth pairing, and it also served as a first glimpse of season three, which Disney and Hulu have confirmed will arrive in 2026.
Yes, 2026. This year. As in “within the next 11 months.”
It might sound surprising, but TV shows are often planned well in advance! For many years, it was common practice to begin working on the next season even before the current one finished airing. That’s exactly what’s happening with Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Disney has announced that the show’s third season is already being filmed in Vancouver – they’re starting production now, rather than waiting to write scripts later.
I’m so excited for the show to come back this year! Season three is going to cover The Titan’s Curse, which is the third book in Rick Riordan’s amazing series. The title sounds pretty dramatic, but I’m sure whatever ‘curse’ it is won’t actually stop them from making the new season – we’ll definitely get more episodes!
