Penn Badgley’s You Season 5: How Elizabeth Lail’s Cameo Unveils Major Secret From Season One

In a shocking twist, Elizabeth Lail unexpectedly reappeared in a recent episode of You Season 5. This is surprising because her character, Guinevere Beck – Joe Goldberg’s bookish girlfriend – was killed off in the show’s initial season. However, her return isn’t solely for nostalgia; it unveils a significant secret that links her to a fresh character.

In Episode 6, Beck makes an appearance in a flashback sequence, where it’s disclosed that Joe’s current muse, Louise (also known as Brontë), portrayed by Madeline Brewer, had a personal acquaintance with Beck. Previously, Beck served as her writing mentor and even influenced the origin of her nickname, which was derived from Charlotte Brontë.

In the flashback, Beck remarks, “You manage to delve deep into the minds of your characters, even those who appear beyond redemption.” He labels this ability as an extreme form of understanding others, and finds it truly remarkable.

When Louise dismisses the compliment as overly kind, Beck subtly persuades her not to undervalue it, instead suggesting she graciously receive the accolade. He further emphasizes his conviction that Louise possesses genuine talent in her work.

Louise expresses that no one has supported her as a writer quite like you do, which she hadn’t experienced before meeting Beck. This support made her question her choice of moving and pursuing creative writing, and at times, she even contemplated giving it up altogether.

Now, feeling truly seen by Beck, she expresses how much that support means to her.

Afterwards, Louise discloses that she intends to leave school and go back to Ohio to look after her sick mother. However, she wants Beck to know that she’ll always remember the support and faith Beck gave her.

When the news broke about Beck’s demise, Louise began suspecting her partner, Joe, could be connected to it. This led her to delve into Beck’s past in search of answers.

Ever since Beck made his grand reappearance, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement and suspicion. It’s now crystal clear that Louise’s casual encounter with Joe at Mooney’s bookstore was anything but accidental. In truth, she had been orchestrating this encounter behind the scenes, enlisting the help of her online pals – one of them being none other than the son of Dr. Nicky, the very man Joe manipulated for Beck’s murder conviction.

From the start of this series, Louise has kept a keen eye on Joe’s moves. Her mission? A relentless pursuit to expose him and bring him to justice. The anticipation is killing me!
