In more casual terms: Penn Badgley, star of Netflix’s You and father to a son with his wife Domino Kirke, opened up about his past dynamic with co-star Blake Lively on the Call Her Daddy podcast. He discussed how his life took a turn when he started dating the actress from The It Ends With Us.

During a conversation with Alex Cooper on a podcast, Badgley admitted that he might have faced difficulties in his past relationship with Lively, largely due to the stark difference between how he related to Blake and the way his character Dan interacted with Serena.

The actor explained, “Working on a TV series means you’re always at it due to its inherent characteristics.

He also mentioned, “It seems as though you’re always feeling the need to demonstrate your worth, even when no one explicitly asks you to. The question that arises is: What exactly are you here for? Or, in other words, what’s your purpose?

In the series, a woman with four children was widely recognized for portraying Serena, a character who had a romantic involvement with Dan, played by Badgley. This program ran successfully for six seasons.

Furthermore, during his podcast interview, the star of Easy A expressed, “I believe there wasn’t enough distinction for anyone.” He elaborated, “You’re recognized as this person; your name is called out on the street. You also had to be that person at work, and I was only 20 or 21 years old. At that time, I lacked the emotional maturity to grasp or distinguish myself in terms of self-worth.

In other words, Badgley’s on-screen persona was so compelling that people expected him, in reality, to embody the same qualities as his character on screen.

In 2010, Penn and Blake decided to part ways, but the show continued until 2012. On the set of their drama series, they maintained a cordial relationship as amicable former partners.
