According to Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman’s confirmation, it seems that Pedro Pascal might be taking on the role of the new head of the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
In addition to showcasing The Thunderbolts, the film also assembles a new group of Avengers. Furthermore, keep in mind that the post-credits scene hints at Doomsday, a possibility that Marvel’s Kevin Feige has suggested might not be as straightforward as it appears.
Reed Richards the Next Avengers Leader
During the promotion of the FF film, Shakman explained to Variety that casting Reed was the most difficult role to fill.
Shakman notes, ‘Our character transitions from a secluded scientist, engrossed in his lab work, to a devoted husband and protective father, to a leader of the Avengers. I understood that our portrayal needed to encompass each one of these aspects.’
In the Fantastic Four movie, it’s unclear if Reed will lead the Avengers or if Vanessa Kirby takes over, since Sue Storm has been confirmed as the leader there.

The film titled “Avengers: Doomsday” will hit theaters on December 18, 2026, with Joe and Anthony Russo at the helm. Meanwhile, production for “Secret Wars” is ongoing in the United Kingdom, scheduled to release on December 17, 2027.
The confirmed 27-member cast for this project includes Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Letitia Wright, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, Tom Hiddleston, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Danny Ramirez, Hannah John-Kamen, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Channing Tatum, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Lewis Pullman, and Robert Downey Jr. Rumors suggest there could be an additional 33 cast members as well.
