Peaky Blinders’ Charlie Murphy Expecting 1st Child After ‘Grueling’ 2-Year IVF Struggles; Calls It ‘Tough, Arduous and Monotonous’

Charlie Murphy, known for her role as Jessie Eden in Peaky Blinders, revealed she’s pregnant following five rounds of IVF over a two-year period. At 37 years old, the Irish actress shared that her journey to motherhood was challenging, leaving her emotionally and financially depleted.

During an open chat with The Irish Times, she reminisced about the time she discovered she was pregnant. She admitted that while it was a joyful occasion, she chose to keep her excitement in check, attributing this to lingering PTSD from undergoing several cycles of IVF.

As a lifestyle expert reflecting on my personal journey, I might say, “Perhaps it was the lingering effects of undergoing multiple rounds of IVF – an experience that was incredibly intense and grueling. Yet, I found myself embracing every symptom associated with pregnancy, for it meant I had finally escaped those demanding rounds. The joy I felt was indescribable.

Speaking candidly about my intense infertility treatment journey, I can’t help but compare it to repeatedly placing bets at a casino – investing emotionally, financially, and time-wise with each roll of the dice. When the last few rounds didn’t yield any winnings, I couldn’t help but feel deceived. This experience has been grueling, challenging, and monotonous, leaving me longing for a different outcome.

Throughout the challenging process of In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Murphy unfortunately experienced a miscarriage, a complication that is not uncommon during this treatment. At first, the actress wished to maintain privacy about her IVF journey, but she ultimately chose to reveal her story in order to empathize with other women facing similar hardships.

She’s been with British filmmaker Sam since the year 2019. They share a home, purchased in Stoke Newington, London, where they reside together. Reports indicate that she is expecting a baby this current month.

Apart from her role in “Peaky Blinders,” she can also be seen on the critically acclaimed shows such as “Happy Valley” (which won a BAFTA) and “Obsession,” streaming on Netflix.

In the meantime, the Peaky Blinders are preparing for their comeback on BBC One. This upcoming series is projected to transport the Birmingham gangsters into the 1950s, focusing on the violent Teddy Boy mobs. Additionally, it will depict the emergence of the infamous East London criminals – the Kray twins.
