As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for crime thrillers and a knack for spotting the next big thing in entertainment, I must say that the return of Based on True Story on Peacock is music to my ears (and eyes!). Having binge-watched season 1, I can attest to its unique blend of dark humor, relatable characters, and a suspenseful narrative that leaves you guessing till the very end.
Currently, crime thrillers are dominating the television landscape. One of Peacock’s most popular series, “Based on True Story,” is returning with a fresh season filled with excitement for its viewers. This comedy-thriller offers something new for its fans, promising another intriguing storyline for Nathan and Eva – or rather, another crime enigma to unravel.
Let’s take down all the details about season 2 of the comedy-drama, hitting this year.
In the first season, it was revealed that the Bartletts interred a corpse in the sinkhole of their tennis court. Due to their fascination with crime dramas, they often imagine various scenarios, and their podcast featuring real-life cases attracts many listeners. Just like the previous season, the second part of this series is expected to maintain an atmosphere of suspenseful intrigue.
Annie Weisman, the freshly appointed showrunner for the series, expressed her enthusiasm, being an admirer of both Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina. Her anticipation for season 2 is palpable, and she immediately took a liking to the show.
She went on expressing her enthusiasm for the series, noting its unique mix of witty humor, dynamic action, and authentic characters really drew her in. Regarding season 2, she hinted at an enticing plotline, promising intriguing new characters and a gripping, progressing murder mystery.
In the second season, events unfold three months following the end of the first, with Ava resuming her regular duties in real estate. They welcome a new addition, a baby boy they’ve named Jack. Meanwhile, Nathan gets back to his coaching career, handling both club tennis and private sessions.
In their current roles as parents, Ava continues to nurture her fascination with crime stories, while Matt is seeking help at a rehab facility to manage his own fixation. The question remains: has Matt been involved in another murder, or is there a new installment in the True Crime Podcast?
Many queries are swirling about Season 2. The trailer also hints at the team encountering another homicide. Matt is depicted with a shovel, suggesting he’s burying a corpse. The show returns to Peacock on November 21, 2024. Similar to Season 1, it will consist of 8 episodes.
As a die-hard fan, I’m beyond excited for the upcoming season! Liana Liberato will be stepping into the role of Tory, who’s Matt’s significant other. Melissa Fumero joins the cast as Ava’s new pal, Drew. You might remember Tom Bateman from earlier seasons as our beloved Matt. Chris Messina takes on the character of Nathan Bartlett, and none other than Kaley Cuoco will be portraying Ava Bartlett. Interestingly enough, Melissa Fumero and Kaley Cuoco are also serving as co-producers for this series!
